UPTAC 2026 - AKTU will start the UPTAC 2026 choice filling for round 1 on July 4. Registered candidates will be able to do the UPTAC choice filling 2026 at uptac.samarth.edu.in. UPTAC conducts online counselling for admission in UG/PG courses in affiliated institutes of AKTU or other state colleges of UP. Candidates do get admission based on the marks scored in the respective qualifying exam. Undergraduate courses like B.Tech,B.Arch, B.Des, B.Pharma etc. or PG courses like M.Tech, MBA, MCA etc, through JEE Main, CUET, NATAetc. Below is the course wise qualifying exams list check it out to understand the admission requirements of UPTAC.
The authority provides admission for B.Tech in AKTU affiliated institutes and other state engineering colleges of Uttar Pradesh. Candidates who appear in JEE Main and CUET can participate to take admission. Candidates without JEE Main or CUET can also participate in special rounds conducted by authority after main rounds. AKTU released the complete schedule for UPTAC 2026 on the official website. UPTAC counselling process includes several steps like registration, fee payment, documents verification, choice filling and seat allotment. Candidates need to participate in UPTAC counselling for admission in state engineering colleges of Uttar Pradesh. Below is the comprehensive step by step process of counselling.
1. Application Form
The very first step to participate in Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling(UPTAC)
Is to fill up the application form followed with the following steps:
Registration :
Candidates will be required to submit JEE Main/CUET application number, email id or phone number. They need to set a password and get their credentials. Remember these credentials will be used for the complete afterward process so keep them secured.
Form Filling :
After the registration, logging through generated credentials and filling some vital information such as personal and academic details. They also need to submit category details(If applicable). Given information must be correct as per their knowledge.
Documents Upload :
Candidates need to upload all the supporting documents with specified size and format. Documents must be updated as per the latest date. Documents generally include:

10th and 12th Marksheet.

Photograph(recent one)
Signature

Application Fee Payment :
After uploading the documents successfully, all candidates need to pay Rs. 1000 as application fee for final submission of application form. Application fee is same for all reserved and unreserved candidates. Fee payment will be done in online mode only, candidates pay through Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, UPI etc.
Note : There would be no correction window for correcting the submitted details, candidates need to pay utmost attention while filling up the form.
2. Documents verification
After successful application submission, submitted details will be verified by a central documents verification team in online mode . If authorities find any problem related to documents, they will raise an issue by addressing the actual problem. Candidates need to resolve that issue within the specified time period. Failing in that may cause some serious consequences.
Candidates will be notified through SMS/ Email regarding this, but still they are advised to keep checking the dashboard for the same.
3. Choice Filling
Candidates can exercise the choice filling after the documents verification. Choice filling refers to preparing a preference list of courses and colleges in such an order that higher preferred courses and colleges must be placed above the less preferred one. Seat allocation will occur in the same order provided by the candidate; the counter will move in the same sequence as provided in choice filling. As soon as the score or rank meets the eligible marks for that course and college, that seat will be given to the candidate.
4. Seat Allotment
The authority will release the seat allotment result in online mode. Candidates can access the seat allotment by logging through UPTAC credentials. Seat allotment will be displayed on the student’s dashboard. It will include the course and college allotted to the candidate and the steps to be taken afterward. To accept the given allotment, candidates need to pay Rs. 20,000(for General and OBC) and Rs. 12, 000 (For SC/ST) as seat acceptance fee.
Candidates can download the provisional allotment letter after paying seat acceptance fee only. An online willingness must be opted after allotment; Freeze, Float or Withdrawal.

5. Online Willingness
After the allotment result, candidates will have 3 options to move with the given allotment. Freeze, Float or Withdrawal, candidates have to choose one of them to continue in the counselling process.
What does it mean by Freeze, Float or Withdrawal?
Freeze : The given seat will be locked for the candidate, no upgradation and participation in subsequent rounds will be allowed.
Float : Candidates can participate in subsequent rounds for upgradation, but given allotment will be retained if no upgradation happens. In the case of an upgrade in subsequent rounds previous allotment will be replaced by the new one, the candidate can’t go with the previous one in this case.
Withdrawal : If candidates opt for withdrawal, it means they consensually took exit from the counselling process. It will simply remove the candidate from the counselling.
6. Physical Reporting
After performing the online willingness, candidates need to visit the allotted college for further admission process. They need to carry all the necessary documents for physical verification by the college authority. Commencement of classwork will be shared by the college authority after verification.

Academic Criteria : Candidates must have cleared 10+2 with at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ST candidates) in Physics & Mathematics (Compulsory subjects) and Chemistry/ Bio-Technology / Biology/ Technical Vocational subject (Any one subject).
Qualifying Exam : Candidates must have cleared the JEE Main/CUET UG/CUET PG entrance exam conducted by NTA.
Age Criteria : There is no age limit for participation in counselling for UPTAC.
Domicile : If the candidate has passed the qualifying exam outside the U.P. they must upload a domicile certificate of their parents at the time of registration and physical reporting.
Application Fee : The counselling registration fee is Rs. 1000 for all candidates(No concession for reserved candidates)
Non JEE/CUET candidates can participate in special rounds of counselling. A new fresh registration needs to be made, still they need to meet the minimum eligibility criteria decided by the authority.
The seat allotment will be based on merit, choice filling and availability of seats
The counselling fee is non-refundable (except withdrawal from counselling), even if the candidate does not report to the allotted institutions.
While filling out the counselling form, candidates must upload a copy of scanned images of the latest colour photograph and signature.
Applications with blurred photographs will be rejected.
20% of the total seats are available for admission in the first year in all courses in institutions affiliated with AKTU without reservation. These seats will be filled based on merit in the respective exams.
