SAIL Recruitment through GATE 2019 – The Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) has announced recruitment through GATE 2019 for Management Trainees (Technical) in the disciplines of Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Instrumentation, Mining and Metallurgy. Candidates can fill the application form of SAIL recruitment through GATE from May 25 to June 14, 2019. An application fee of Rs 700 will have to be paid by Gen/ OBC candidates while SC/ST/PwD candidates have to pay Rs 100. Candidates who are Mechanical, Metallurgical, Chemical, Mining, Instrumentation or Electrical engineers will be eligible to apply for SAIL recruitment through GATE 2019. Candidates must have applied for GATE exam and qualified in it to be able to get shortlisted for SAIL recruitment through GATE 2019. Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their GATE 2019 scores to face a group discussion and a personal interview for selection. Qualifying Examination

Candidates must have completed full time 4 years bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology. Department candidates who are AMIE qualified are eligible.


Pass Percentage

  • General and OBC (NCL) category candidates need to have secured minimum 65% aggregate marks (average of all semesters in all years)

  • SC/ ST and PwD category candidates need minimum 55% aggregate marks in the qualifying test


Final year students

Not eligible


Age Limit as on June 14, 2019

The maximum age limit for the General category candidates is 28 years. Date of birth should not be earlier than June 14, 1991.

Relaxation to different category candidates as follows

  • 5 years for SC & ST

  • 3 years for OBC-NC

  • 10 years for PWD (UR)

  • 13 years for PWD (OBC-NC)

  • 15 years for PWD (SC/ST) candidates

  • Candidates domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during January 1, 1981 to December 31, 1990 can avail relaxation up to 5 years

  • Departmental candidates should not be more than 45 years


Medical standards

Candidates should be of sound physique, free from any physical defect. Medical standards stipulate minimum requirements of Weight 45 kg; Height 155 cm; Myopia and Hypermetropia, if any, not to exceed ± 4.00 in each eye and no squint or colour blindness, partial or full. Suitable relaxation in height and weight will be given to female candidates. In case of persons with disability, only orthopedically disabled candidates with OA or OL disability with minimum 40% disability can apply



All candidates employed in Government/ Semi- Government/ Central/ State Government Departments/ Public Sector Undertakings are required to produce ‘No Objection Certificate’ from their employer during the interview if they are shortlisted.

GATE paper
Candidates who have appeared for a differnt GATE paper other than the one in their graduation will not be considered for recruitment.

SAIL Recruitment Application Form 2019

  • Candidates can apply for only one discipline. Only GATE 2019 scores will be valid for the SAIL recruitment. Candidates will have to enter their registration number as mentioned in GATE admit card 2019 that was available from January 4.

  • Candidates will have to register, fill their personal, academic and other requisite details, enter their GATE 2019 registration number mentioned in the GATE 2019 admit card.

  • They will be required to upload their recent photo, signature, left thumb impression and GATE 2019 admit card. Specifications are - latest passport size photograph (jpg or jpeg file only upto 50 Kb) as well as a photograph of signatures in digital format (jpg or jpeg file only upto 20 kb)

  • Candidates are advised to check the preview of all data filled in before pressing the "Submit: button as they will not be able to edit any information after submission.

  • Thereafter, candidates will receive a verification link on his/ her registered email ID and registered Mobile Phone through SMS. Candidates need to click on the link mentioned in Email or SMS to verify their candidature.

  • After verification of the link is done, candidates are advised to refresh the page once to be redirected to the SB Collect page where they will have to click on the "Make Payment" link, then select the category, enter the correct unique SAIL registration number as given by SAIL via SMS/ Email and make the payment by using any modes mentioned therein.

  • Upon successful payment, candidates will be required to click on login button using their unique SAIL Registration Number and Date of Birth and enter the SBI Collect Reference Number and Transaction date in the system. They must click on the submit button to allow reconciling with the SB Collect data within 24 hours.

  • Candidates must check their status after 24 hours.

  • After payment confirmation, candidates will be able to download their Provisional Registration Slip with SAIL Unique Registration number.

  • Only those candidates who will receive the Provisional registration slip with payment confirmation status will be considered for the recruitment process

Application Fee & Payment Mode: The application fee amount of Rs.700/- for General and OBC Candidates and Rs.100/- for SC/ ST/ PWD/ Departmental candidates will have to be paid. This payment can be made through internet banking account/ credit/ debit card or through any of the State Bank Group branches with system generated Payment Challan form SB Collect account (no.34669119094) at Lodhi Road Branch, New Delhi.

Shortlisting of candidates: Candidates who will score a minimum of 50 percentile (Gen/EWS) will be eligible for shortlisting while for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PwD candidates it will be 40 percentile.

Selection Process for SAIL Recruitment through GATE 2019

Job Profile: Candidates will be selected as “Management Trainees (Technical) in E1 grade.

Training & Probation: The selected candidates will have to undergo training for one year. Thereafter on completion of successful training, they will be designated as Junior Managers.

Pay Scale and Perks: Candidates will draw a basic pay of Rs.20,600/- p.m. in the pay scale of Rs.20600-46500/-. On successful completion of training, candidates will be placed in the scale of pay of Rs. 24900-50500/-. The total Cost to Company (CTC) will be 9 lakhs.

In gate examination you will be not going to face any criteria like of things in CGPA.

No specific percentage per year or semesterwise is required for gate.

In order to apply for gate you have to be a graduation degree either passed or appearing .

If you looking for Job then the best alternative for GATE exam is the UPSC IES examination which is conducted for engineering graduates.This is the best way possible you can get a job and that too in government of India and also there is a long list if perks and perquisites you will get once to crack IES examination.

You can upload the photo again even after the closure of the gate application submission.High quality image must be uploaded in the application.Background and sign should be white.Reuploading facility is also will reopen and you can upload

As you are still in your 3rd year, you might not be still aware of the complete GATE syllabus. So analyse the topics and syllabus that you have learnt for the past 3 years and practise as much Mathematics as you can. Try as many mock tests as possible and get a hang of the exam pattern. Dear Harish, IIT Delhi has scheduled diiferent correction windows for different correction categories. The tentative dates to make corrections to your Category would be from the last week of October to 1st week of November. This is tentative and so please keep an eye on the official website.
