JEE Advanced 2026 Question Analysis: Hardest, Easiest & Tricky

Maths Paper 1 Question 11 had the greatest difficulty index. A number of questions in Maths, Physics, and Chemistry were rated over 85% in terms of difficulty index. In addition, Chemistry Paper 1 Question 14 had the lowest difficulty index amongst the questions that were analysed. There are questions that students made mistakes in despite having attempted them.

    JEE Advanced 2026 Question-Wise Analysis

The difficulty index is helpful in evaluating the performance of students on a comparative basis across various questions. The difficulty index being high implies that the question was difficult for the students, and a low difficulty index implies easy performance.

In all three subjects under discussion, it is observed that there were many questions from the subject of Maths which had a very high difficulty index. These were from the topics of relations and functions, permutations and combinations, and calculus. From the subject of Physics, questions from rotational motion, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics were difficult. It will also give students an insight into the JEE Advanced Exam pattern.

Question 14 in Chemistry Paper 1 is the least difficult of these questions, with a difficulty index of 31.4, whereby most of the students who answered this question scored full marks.

Questions 14 in Physics Paper 1 and 16 in Mathematics Paper 1 are relatively scoring questions from their full-marks percentages.

    JEE Advanced 2026 Trickiest Questions

Difficulty and trickiness are somewhat different. The difficulty may be that the problem is too complex and involves many calculations or knowledge of complex theories, while trickiness will cause a mistake in solving the problem after its solution.

Trap rate statistics are useful for finding problems that led students in the wrong direction. Below are some JEE Advanced 2026 tricky questions:

JEE Main and JEE Advanced are both national-level engineering entrance examinations, but they serve different purposes.

JEE Main is conducted for admission to NITs, IIITs and other participating engineering institutes. It is also the qualifying examination for appearing in JEE Advanced.

JEE Advanced is conducted for admission to the IITs

Start your JEE preparation from Class 11 itself by building strong concepts in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Follow your Class 11 syllabus systematically and avoid studying only for board examinations.

    A good approach is:

Complete each chapter conceptually and solve basic questions first.

    Gradually move to JEE-level problems.

    Practise previous-year

After qualifying JEE Advanced and getting an IIT, there is no single course that is best for everyone. Your choice should depend on interest, rank, career goals and the branch available to you.

    Generally:

CSE/AI/Data Science – good for software, AI, data and technology careers.

    Electrical Engineering – useful for
