NOTE: The GATE marks are the raw scores a candidate gets in the exam. Whereas, the GATE score is a normalized score out of 1000.
The GATE exam is conducted in multiple sessions and shifts. The level of difficulty for each session slightly varies. To beat this disparity and determine fair scores, the authority uses the normalization mode of calculation. For the papers that are only held in one session, the actual marks received by the candidate will be used for calculating the GATE score. However, for the papers that are held in different sessions, normalized GATE marks will be calculated, corresponding to the raw marks.
