    CENTAC Merit List 2026

The authority releases a separate merit list for candidates of Puducherry and other state candidates (outside Puducherry). The CENTAC 2026 merit list has a list of all candidates who are considered for admission to B.Tech courses in various participating institutes. The authorities first released a draft merit list of CENTAC. Candidates will be allowed to raise objections to the draft CENTAC 2026 merit list. The authorities will then release the final merit list after considering objections, if any.

    CENTAC Cutoff 2026

CENTAC will release the cutoff on the official website. The CENTAC cutoff is the minimum normalised mark required by the candidates to be considered for admission. The normalised marks are calculated from Physics, Mathematics and one optional subject in which the candidate has appeared, which may include Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Technical Vocational Subjects, etc. Students who secure more than or equal to the CENTAC cutoff of 2026 are included in the merit list.

    CENTAC Normalisation Procedure 2026

To evolve a common base for equating the marks obtained by the candidates from various Boards of Examination, a “normalization procedure” is followed. The marks obtained by the students in the relevant subjects in the qualifying exam conducted by the various boards will be equated with the marks obtained by the students in the same subjects in the qualifying exam, conducted by the State Board (i.e. state Board of School Examinations, Tamil Nadu), by adopting the method of normalization.

For Example - If the highest mark secured by a student of the State Board, in Physics is 100 and the highest mark secured by a student of any other Board (say “X”), in the same subject is 90, then, both the highest marks will be considered to be equal to 100. If any other student of the other Board (i.e “X”), is 90, then, 60 marks secured by such a student will be considered to be equal to 66.667 marks as arrived at and given below: (100 x 60) / 90 = 66.667% After normalization of marks of the eligible students of different Boards, in the relevant subjects, the “normalized marks” obtained shall be merged into a common merit list3

    CENTAC Counselling 2026

The authorities will commence the CENTAC 2026 counselling in online mode. Candidates whose names appear in the CENTAC merit list can participate in the counselling process. The eligible candidates have to complete the choice filling and pay the counselling fees online. The authorities will conduct CENTAC 2026 counselling through a centralised process in which seats will be allotted to candidates in order of merit, considering the various parameters like category, marks in merit list etc. Students who will be allotted seats will be required to report to the allotted institute for completing the remaining admission procedure. Students can check below the last year allotment list to check the cutoff of allotment.
