to get admission to top-tier engineering colleges may be difficult, but there are several private colleges in India that offer CSE but, you can still get a good education and career opportunities there.
Here are some private colleges that you can opt for:
SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Chennai
VIT Vellore (VIT University)
Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal
BITS Pilani (BITS Hyderabad, BITS Goa)
Amity University, Noida
Shiv Nadar University, Greater Noida
UPES Dehradun
LNCT University, Bhopal
Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Bhubaneswar
as you have mentioned the fact, you will get your preferable courses from here.
through the fact you have mentioned, you have a decent chance of getting admission into some good private engineering colleges in Bangalore for CSE. top NITs may be difficult with this percentile; Bangalore has several reputed institutes that accept JEE Main scores and are known for strong CSE programs.
Here are some of the best colleges in Bangalore for CSE you should consider:
RV College of Engineering – One of the most prestigious colleges in Bangalore with great placements in CSE. Admission is mainly through K-CET and COMEDK, but sometimes JEE scores are considered under management quota.
BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE) – Highly ranked and well-established, known for CSE and IT programs. Like RVCE, accepts COMEDK and K-CET, and may accept JEE under certain categories.
MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT) – Offers solid academics and placements for CSE. Takes admissions via COMEDK, K-CET, and sometimes JEE Main.
Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering (DSCE) – Known for CSE and other technical branches, accepts COMEDK and JEE Main in some cases.
New Horizon College of Engineering – A good private option with growing reputation in CSE and tech placements.
Christ University (Faculty of Engineering) – Offers CSE programs with decent facilities and placement support. Has its own entrance but also considers JEE Main scores.
i would further suggest to stay updated about COMEDK UGET counselling as many top colleges in Bangalore admit through it.
Hello Aspirant,
If your JEE Main rank is approx. 5 lakh but board exam marks are good (85–90% and above), you also have decent options based on your choice:
Focus on universities where board scores matter, and apply early. Look into direct admission options, scholarships, and consider re-attempting JEE if you’re targeting top NITs/IITs.

With an OBC-NCL rank of 22384 in JEE Main, you have a good chance of getting into some of the better NITs and IIITs, as well as some other reputable engineering colleges. However, it's important to remember that cutoffs vary by branch and institute.
You could potentially be admitted to NITs like NIT Jalandhar, NIT Durgapur, or NIT Hamirpur. You might have a small chance at some of the newer or less competitive IITs, but this is not a certainty.
But can consider the top private colleges like VIT, SRM, LPU, UPES, SIT Pune, etc.

Hello Vaibhav,
You're in a good spot with a 97 percentile and solid IIIT/NIT/BIT Mesra options.
If your aim is software/tech industry (coding, product, startups, placements): opt for CSE at any of the IIITs at Dharwad, Ranchi, Bhagalpur or Manipur. Even tier-3 IIITs (CSE) will lead to better placements and internship opportunities in software roles than core branches at NITs. These will lead to better ROI than core branches, due to the tech placements and remote work.
Your next best option: IIIT ECE at Sri City or Una (ECE at Sri City has good industry engagement since it is close to Chennai & tech parks).
Recommended Prioritisation (if you are comfortable pursuing a tech career):
Yes, it's possible to get admitted to a private college like PCCOE with an 85.8 percentile in JEE Main.

Based on your OBC-NCL rank of 20,242 and CRL rank of 66,500 in JEE Main 2024, here is a branch-wise estimate of the NITs and IIITs you may get admission to in 2025 :
OBC-NCL category cutoff percentile for IIITs is around 83–92 for popular branches like CSE, ECE, IT.
Your rank (20,242 OBC-NCL) corresponds roughly to a percentile near 83–85 , which is competitive for mid-tier branches and some top NITs/IIITs but unlikely for top branches like CSE in premier institutes.
Your CRL rank (66,500) places you in a position to get non-CSE branches in many NITs and IIITs.
CSE branch at top NITs and IIITs is unlikely at your rank.
You have good chances for core branches like Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical in many NITs and IIITs.
Choose branches like Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical for better chances.
Use JoSAA and CSAB counseling tools to check real-time seat allotments.
Consider GFTIs and state engineering colleges for more options.
