Hi. I reside in Bangalore. I have to remove the OBC certificate of my son, which was done 5 months ago for JEE registration. And reapply again for IIT counselling. Please let me know how to proceed. Its urgent. TIA

Swayam 25th Apr, 2025

The Backward Classes Welfare Department handles OBC certificate cancellations that occur in Bangalore and follows procedures from Anagrasarkalyan.gov.in notices. The IIT counseling admission process for JEE Advanced 2025 needs OBC-NCL certificate validity from April 1, 2025 onwards. For reissue of your current OBC-NCL certificate file a new application with correct information to either Karnataka state portal or appropriate authority. The new OBC-NCL certificate needs to be uploaded during JEE Advanced registration together with any pending declaration. The selection of main JEE categories established at the beginning of registration becomes permanent and unalterable but you can modify registration information for JEE Advanced 2025. The local Tahsildar or BCWD office requires immediate contact for certificate revocation or reapplication.

I get 85.38 pr in jee mains 2025 in OBC can I get admission in DDU for chemical engineering

harsh singh 25th Apr, 2025

Based on your JEE Main 2025 percentile of 85.38 in the OBC-NCL category, you are likely to have a rank between 25,000 and 30,000. With this rank, you have a good chance of securing admission in Chemical Engineering at Dharmsinh Desai University (DDU), Nadiad.

Looking at previous years’ trends, the closing ranks for Chemical Engineering in DDU for OBC-NCL candidates have been around 90,000–1,00,000 in general, which means your rank puts you in a favorable position for admission.

Keep an eye on the official DDU admission updates for the most accurate information, but based on this, your chances are strong.

For jee for CSE in iiit bangalore would come to this rank 714486 for sc candidate

Through the ranks you mentioned it is quite difficult to get admission in your dream college, As the College itself is so much Reputed and the branch You've chosen is the most competitive. the cut offs might be lower for SC categories and it lies between 10000 rank generally. but with your rank it is challenging to secure a cse seat.

The cutoffs varies from year to year based on the number of applicants, availability of seats and performances

I would recommend you to stay updated with the official notifications and counselling round results. you might get opportunity to different branches also you have options to opt the private colleges or newer iiit where cutoffs may be less and competitions may be lower

Can a person whose JEE mains ST category rank is 42620 get JGEC (Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College) ?

harsh singh 25th Apr, 2025

Yes, with a JEE Main ST category rank of 42,620, you may have a lower chance of securing admission to Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College (JGEC). Based on previous years' cutoffs, the closing rank for the ST category at JGEC was around 15,000 to 25,000.

Given your rank, it is above the typical closing ranks from previous years, suggesting that your chances might be slim. However, cutoffs can vary every year, so it’s still worth applying and staying updated on the counselling process.

Consider applying during the first round of counselling and explore other colleges as well in case the seat is unavailable.

i got 76950 rank in jee main and obc ncl rank 23853 can i get college in nit or iiit or good gfti colllage if yes then what are they

Tanisha chaudhary 3rd May, 2025

HEY THERE!!

With your JEE Main All India Rank (AIR) of 76,950 and an OBC-NCL category rank of 23,853, here’s an overview of your options for NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs:

**NITs**

Getting into the main branches such as Computer Science (CSE), Electronics (ECE), or Mechanical Engineering at most NITs will be challenging. Even newer NITs have these ranks under 20,000 for the OBC-NCL category. However, there's a possibility for branches with lower demand like Biotechnology, Metallurgy, Mining, Production, or Civil Engineering at some of the newer or North-East NITs. This is more likely if you have a home state quota in a less competitive state. For mid-tier and top NITs, the cutoffs for any branch are generally well below your rank, making it hard to secure a spot there.

**IIITs**

You have a chance in IIITs, mainly in less popular branches or at newer IIITs. High-demand areas like CSE or ECE usually have OBC-NCL ranks below 15,000–18,000. Despite this, seats might be available at newer IIITs for branches like IT, ECE, or various specializations, particularly during the later rounds of admission.

**GFTIs (Government Funded Technical Institutes)**

You stand a reasonable chance at several GFTIs, especially for non-core or less sought-after branches. GFTIs usually have higher closing ranks for the OBC-NCL category, providing opportunities in institutes such as Assam University, Gurukula Kangri, and other state-funded colleges.

**Action Plan**

1. Apply Broadly: In the JoSAA counselling, fill out as many choices as possible including all branches and institutes (NITs, IIITs, GFTIs) to improve your opportunities.

2. State Counselling:If applicable, utilize state counselling to take advantage of lower cutoffs if you possess a state quota.

3. Remain Flexible:Stay open to various branches and locations. Depending on college policies, you may have the option to change branches after your first year.

Overall Summary:

Securing core branches at leading or mid-level NITs or IIITs is not likely, but there's a reasonable chance at newer NITs, IIITs, and several GFTIs, especially in non-core branches. Ensure you fill all possible options in JoSAA counselling to increase your chances of admission.

I have got 500129 JEE rank in 2025. Can I get admission in BTech CSE in IIEST as West Bengal is my home quota.

SUKRITI GUPTA 30th Apr, 2025

Based on the JEE Main 2024 cutoff data for IIEST Shibpur, securing a B.Tech CSE seat with a CRL rank of 500129, even with the West Bengal home state quota, appears to be highly improbable .

Looking at the previous year's closing ranks for the general category under the home state quota, the cutoff for B.Tech CSE at IIEST Shibpur was significantly lower than your rank. For example, in the final rounds of JoSAA counselling in 2024, the closing rank for general home state candidates for CSE was around 17609 . While cutoffs can vary slightly each year, a difference of this magnitude makes admission very difficult.

While having the home state quota provides some advantage by reserving 50% of the seats for candidates from West Bengal, the competition for popular branches like CSE at a prestigious institute like IIEST Shibpur remains very high. The number of CSE seats is limited, and many candidates with much better ranks would also be vying for them under the home state quota.

Therefore, it is advisable to be realistic about your chances for B.Tech CSE at IIEST Shibpur with your current rank. You should definitely explore other engineering colleges that might be a better fit for your rank, considering both state government and private institutions in West Bengal and other states. Participating actively in the JoSAA and CSAB counselling processes and keeping an open mind about other branches could lead you to a good engineering college.

I gave Jee main 2025 as General Category(General is written on my application and admit card), but I am from ews and have EWS certificate. Can I get seat through ews quota in counselling like jossa, csab or other state counselling? please someone help.

SUKRITI GUPTA 28th Apr, 2025

It is understandable that you are concerned about the category you selected in your JEE Main 2025 application form. Since you have a valid EWS certificate issued after April 1, 2025, you might be able to use it during the counselling process for JoSAA, CSAB, and other state-level admissions, even though you applied under the General category.

While the category you initially selected in the JEE Main application is usually considered final for the result and rank list preparation, there might be a possibility to use your EWS certificate during the counselling stages. When you register for JoSAA or CSAB counselling, you will likely have the option to choose your category again. At that point, you can select EWS and provide the details of your valid certificate.

It's important to note that your JEE Main score and rank will remain under the General category. However, when the counselling authorities allocate seats, they consider the category you choose during registration and the corresponding reservation policies. If your rank falls within the EWS cutoffs for a particular institute and program, you might be offered a seat under the EWS quota.

Therefore, when the registration for JoSAA and other counselling processes begins, make sure to register under the EWS category and provide all the necessary details and a scanned copy of your EWS certificate. The counselling authorities will then verify your certificate during the document verification stage.

Keep in mind that the final decision regarding your eligibility for the EWS quota during counselling rests with the respective counselling authorities and the specific rules they follow. It would be prudent to keep an eye on the official websites of JoSAA, CSAB, and the state counselling bodies for the latest information and guidelines regarding category changes during counselling. You may also consider contacting the JEE Main helpline or the counselling authorities directly to clarify your specific situation.

I hope this helps.
