I am a student of ST caste . I ranked 11516 in st caste in jee mains can I get any nit

kumardurgesh1802 22nd Apr, 2025

Hello Niharika,

With a rank of 11,516 in ST category in JEE Mains, your chances of getting into an NIT are very low, but not impossible. Here's a quick overview:

1. Top NITs : Highly unlikely for any branch. Most top NITs close ST category seats much earlier (within top 3,000–5,000 ST ranks).

2. Lower or Newer NITs : You might have a chance in newer NITs like NIT Arunachal Pradesh, NIT Mizoram, NIT Nagaland, etc.

  • Likely only in lower-demand branches like Civil, Mechanical, Metallurgy, etc.

    3. State Quota Advantage : If you belong to the home state of any NIT and apply under home state quota, your chances can slightly improve.

With an ST rank of 11,516 , chances are very limited but you may still get a seat in newer or less preferred NITs under lower branches. Keep backup options ready through state counseling or private colleges.

JEE Result is out and my son has got 140000 rank with Delhi as home state in general category. He is interested only in CS. From the last year data, it appears that he will get Bharti Vidyapeeth in second or third round though he is more interested in MSIT CS. My question is, if we freeze the Bharti Vidyapeeth in third round and pay the fee, is my son still eligible for spot round 1 and 2 to try for MSIT ? We want to make sure that there is no impact on the allocated seat in the third round. Briefly, dont want to take risk of losing the allocated seat. Please suggest if it is possible?

kumardurgesh1802 22nd Apr, 2025

Hello there,

If your son freezes the Bharti Vidyapeeth seat in the third round and pays the fee , it locks the seat and essentially means that he accepts the offer from that college.

Here’s what you need to know:

  1. JOSAA Freeze Option : Once you choose to "freeze" a seat and pay the fee, you are not eligible for further rounds of counseling, including spot rounds . This is because freezing signifies that you are satisfied with the allocated seat, and you're accepting it, preventing participation in further rounds.

  2. Options After Freezing : If your son is serious about MSIT CS and doesn't want to risk losing that opportunity, it’s better not to freeze the seat at Bharti Vidyapeeth. Instead, you can opt for:

    • Float or Slide options, which would allow you to retain the Bharti Vidyapeeth seat and try for MSIT in subsequent rounds.

    • Spot round participation : If you freeze, you cannot participate in spot rounds. So, do not freeze the seat unless you're absolutely sure you want to take it and give up on MSIT.

      Suggestion:

To ensure eligibility for MSIT and also keep Bharti Vidyapeeth as a backup, I would recommend not freezing the seat in the third round. Opt for the float option if possible and keep exploring through the next rounds, including the spot rounds . This will allow your son to try for MSIT while securing a seat at Bharti Vidyapeeth as a backup.

If you do freeze and pay the fee, you will lose eligibility for the spot rounds, so weigh the options carefully.

with 90.66 percentile in jee mains can i get cse in bangalore amrita university under slab 1

Rubina Naseer 22nd Apr, 2025

With a 90.66 percentile in JEE Main, your chances of getting Computer Science Engineering (CSE) at Amrita University, Bengaluru campus under Slab 1 are moderate to low.

**Cutoff Trends:**

Recent years show that the JEE Main percentile cutoff for CSE at Bengaluru under Slab 1 has been around 94 or above. This makes Slab 1 highly competitive.

**Suggestions:**

- You might get CSE under Slab 2 or Slab 3.

- Consider other Amrita campuses like Amritapuri or Chennai, which may have slightly lower cutoffs.

- You can also explore alternate branches like ECE or EEE if CSE under Slab 1 isn’t available.

i selected general category in jee main but i have valid obc ncl certificate so can i select obc category during AKTU and MPDTE counseling

Rubina Naseer 22nd Apr, 2025

Yes, you can select the OBC-NCL category during the AKTU and MPDTE counseling, provided you have a valid OBC-NCL certificate issued on or after April 1, 2024.

Important considerations:

- If you initially selected the General category during JEE Main registration but have a valid OBC-NCL certificate, you can still opt for the OBC-NCL category during counseling.

- Make sure your certificate is up-to-date and meets the specified criteria.

- During counseling, you will need to upload your OBC-NCL certificate along with other necessary documents.

- For AKTU, you may need to provide a domicile certificate of your parents (either father or mother) to be considered under the OBC category.

It's best to verify the validity of your certificate and consult the counseling authorities to avoid any issues.

I will get government collage in 299921rank in jee mains

Rubina Naseer 22nd Apr, 2025

A rank of 299,921 in JEE Mains is quite high, and securing admission to a government college in the general category might be challenging. However, there are a few factors to consider:

1. State Quota: Some government colleges may have a state quota for residents of the state, which might lower the cutoff for you. You can explore colleges in your home state.

2. Other Categories: If you belong to a reserved category (SC/ST/OBC), the cutoff ranks are generally higher, which could increase your chances of admission.

3. Lower-Tier Government Colleges: You might still have a chance in less competitive government colleges or in branches that have a higher cutoff like Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or other non-CSE branches.

4. Management Quota: Some government colleges also offer seats under management or institutional quotas, where the cutoff ranks can be different.

It’s advisable to keep an eye on the counseling process and explore colleges that might fit your rank and category.

my all india jee main 2025 rank is 197437 and obc category rank 67565 and my percentile is 86.87 can i get seat at thaper institute for cse

kumardurgesh1802 22nd Apr, 2025

Hello there,

With an All India Rank (AIR) of 197,437 and an OBC-NCL category rank of 67,565 in JEE Main 2025 , it is unlikely that you will get admission to Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET) for Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) . Last year, the closing rank for the CSE branch was around 32,664 for general category candidates, and for OBC-NCL candidates, it tends to be slightly higher.

However, you can still explore other options like:

  1. Lower cutoff branches at TIET , such as Computer Engineering or Robotics & AI .

  2. Other universities like UPES Dehradun , Shiv Nadar University , Chandigarh University , and Amity University .

  3. State-level counseling for colleges in Haryana or other states.

While CSE at TIET may not be possible, you can still find good options based on your rank.

Jee main ews larkiya ok 2025 me ews raink 61000 hai gen me to advansh aplay kar sakti hai

kumardurgesh1802 22nd Apr, 2025

Hello Vinay,

If your EWS rank is 61000 in JEE Mains 2025 and you belong to the General category , it is unlikely that you will be eligible to apply for JEE Advanced based on your current rank.

To qualify for JEE Advanced , you need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Qualifying Marks in JEE Mains : You need to score above the required cutoff in JEE Mains.

  2. Top 2.5 Lakh Candidates : Only the top 2.5 lakh candidates (including all categories) from JEE Mains are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced.

  3. Category-wise Rank : Since you're in the General category and your rank is 61000, it falls outside the range of the top 2.5 lakh candidates for JEE Advanced eligibility.

You may need to check the specific cutoff each year for more precise information, but typically a rank in the range of 50,000 or lower would be more competitive for JEE Advanced eligibility, depending on the category and year.

My crl rank in jee main 325064.pls help to chose a best collage

kumardurgesh1802 22nd Apr, 2025

Hello Nitesh,

With a CRL rank of 325064 in JEE Mains , it is unlikely that you will secure admission in top NITs, IIITs, or Government Engineering Colleges for popular branches like Computer Science or Electronics . However, you can still explore various options:

  1. Private Engineering Colleges : Many private universities and colleges may have more relaxed admission criteria and may offer you a seat in branches like Mechanical , Civil , or Electrical Engineering .

    • Examples :

      • Shiv Nadar University

      • Bennett University

      • UPES Dehradun

      • Amity University

      • VIT Bhopal or VIT Vellore (for BTech programs)

  2. State Government Colleges : Some state engineering colleges may consider candidates with a higher rank in state-level counselling . Check your home state's counselling process (for example, Haryana, Punjab, or any other state ) to find suitable options.

  3. Management Quota : If you're willing to pay higher fees, many private colleges may offer admission through management quota.

  4. Other Engineering Courses : You can consider courses in Biotechnology , Civil Engineering , Environmental Engineering , etc., which may have slightly relaxed cutoffs compared to popular branches.

It’s important to check the cutoffs of the specific colleges through JOSAA Counselling and state counselling options for your home state or the desired state.
