As you have mentioned above that you have scored 372 in the GATE examination with a rank of 11672, in CS branch, there is a slightly fair possibility that you would get a pretty decent college.I would recommend to make a list of IIT's or NIT's you want to apply to and email them your score.You can apply to almost all the major ones, but make sure to go prepared during the counselling sessions.

preparation strategies is quite simple where as make sure your career objective is clear as for the going for the comapany while check the company site and go through it while most importantly prepare your self in area you are getting hired in company,

1st round would be aptitude
2nd round would be JAM or GD

IIIT Hyderabad takes the admission through JEE Main, DASA, UGEE–CSD/ ECD/ CND/ CLD/ NK/NTSE or KVPY, Olympiad, SPEC.
JEE Main Mode- IIIT Hyderabad B.Tech Admission will be done based on JEE Main marks for limited seats to the single degree programmes only. These programmes includes, B. Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), and B. Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE).
DASA Mode: Through this channel candidates living in abroad will get direct admission based on DASA.
UGEE Mode: Through this mode, admission to all research-based dual-degree programmes will be done. What candidates need to know is that admission in through this mode will be based on an entrance examination followed by an interview.
Special Channel of Admission (SCA) Mode: This mode has been introduced in 2018 only. Through this channel candidates get admission to single degree B. Tech. (ECE/CSE) programs. The admission through this you need to appear and qualify an entrance examination and interview.

yes, b.tech with work experience/research background is better for you.i think you need GATE score only to do m.tech.you'll be definitely having advantage over the fresh b.tech holders.i suggest you to go through below link:

GATe Scorecard is valid for 3years only after which it shall stand invalid. Using GATE scores post validity date will not be accepted.

Eligibility Criteria of IIITH PGEE 2018:-
The candidates should have completed their B.E./B.Tech in Engineering (any branch including CS/IT/ECE/EEE/Civil/Instrumentation/Biotechnology) or B.Arch OR
Master’s degree in Science/Maths/IT/Computer Science OR
Candidates who have qualified MCA programmes.
Final year students who will be completing their degree by July 2018 will also be eligible for IIITH PGEE 2018.
