There is nothing such thing like best and worse to get into PSU because PSU requires skillful personnel. Among mechanical or civil, both have almost same number of recruitment.
But in little bit difference, Civil has little more recruitment.

Hello,GATE doesn't have an age limit, so anybody can apply for GATE and you can apply for it any number of times. If you want to pursue masters in physics/any other branch, you can apply for gate exam for the respective field.Good luck!
