Importance of the GATE Scorecard

The GATE scorecard enables admission to esteemed institutions like IITs, IISc, and NITs while also being a key factor for PSU recruitment. Candidates will not be allowed to participate in any of the GATE counselling or PSU recruitment without the GATE scorecard. It plays a pivotal role in shaping academic and career paths. This score reflects proficiency and potential in engineering and science, facilitating higher education and job opportunities.

How GATE Scores are Calculated?

Candidates are often curious to know how the GATE scores 2026 will be calculated. The GATE exam is for 100 marks, whereas scores are in the 1000s. Candidates must know that the GATE score is the performance indicator on a scale of 1000. To arrive at a score, the respective IIT uses a formula to convert the marks obtained to 1000. However, as some GATE papers 2026 will be conducted in multiple sessions, one single formula can not be used to calculate the score.

So, first, a formula is used to calculate the normalised mark of multiple session papers. This normalised mark is equivalent to the mark obtained in single-session GATE papers. And then, the second formula is used to calculate the GATE 2026 score.

GATE Score Validity for PSU Recruitment

The validity of the gate score for PSU recruitment varies according to the specific discipline, available vacancies, and candidate categories. PSU authorities employ GATE scores to assess candidates' suitability for their recruitment procedures. While some PSUs consider GATE scores from the ongoing year, others might factor in scores from previous years. Generally, the GATE score remains valid for PSU recruitment for one year.

Typically, candidates with All India Ranks (AIR) within 150 are often eligible for PSUs, given the competitive nature of the selection process. Therefore, candidates are strongly advised to prepare diligently to achieve a commendable rank (preferably within the top 100) in the GATE examination, enhancing their prospects of securing lucrative PSU job opportunities.

GATE scorecard for non-qualified students

The GATE Score Card 2026 holds significance for both qualified and non-qualified candidates. Even if they are not qualified, non-qualified candidates can download and retain the scorecard for future reference. It is a valuable record that showcases the attempt and performance in the GATE exam. While it might not grant immediate opportunities, it serves as a testament to the dedication and effort invested, potentially aiding in future endeavours.

Hello,

No,For Mtech you are not eligible to give GATE examination in 2nd year diploma and after completing your diploma degree

Only bachelor's degree holders can give GATE examination

Thank you

Hello

If you're in 2nd year right now, you can’t register for GATE 2026 just yet.
The exam is only open to students in the 3rd year or beyond in their degree.
It’s mainly because the GATE tests subjects that are usually taught later in your course.
But don’t worry, you are in a great position to start preparing early!
Focus on your basics, practice problem-solving, and build strong concepts now.
By the time you reach 3rd year, you’ll be well ahead of the game.

Hello,

If your GATE 2026 application shows "under scrutiny," continue to monitor your applicant portal and registered email for updates, as this is a routine process where officials verify your details.  An "under scrutiny" status does not mean your application is rejected; you may be notified of discrepancies and given a chance to correct them during the application correction window, which opens later. Keep your application details accurate and prepare for the exam while waiting for the correction window to open.

I hope it will clear your query!!

Hello,

In the GATE application form , you should enter your name exactly as it appears in your official ID proof , even if the order is different.

For example:

  • If your ID proof shows Surname + First Name , enter it in the same way in the form.

  • Do not change the order to First Name + Surname.

This is important because your GATE admit card and scorecard will match your ID proof.

Keep it exactly the same to avoid any issues later.

Hope it helps !

Hello,

Yes, you as a Bachelor of Science graduate in home science can appear for the GATE 2026 exam, as the eligibility criteria include graduates from "Science" and other fields, as well as those in the 3rd year or higher of an undergraduate program.
