Im getting a onc-ncl rank of 9000 in jee advanced 2024. What can I do so? Please help regarding this

kumardurgesh1802 29th Sep, 2024

Hello student,

With an OBC-NCL rank of 9000 in JEE Advanced 2024, your chances of getting into the top-tier IITs are limited, but you can still explore opportunities in newer IITs or other reputable institutes. Here's a breakdown:

IITs:

  • Older IITs : It might be challenging to secure core branches like CSE, ECE, or Mechanical in older IITs (like IIT Bombay, Delhi, Madras, or Kanpur) with a rank of 9000 in OBC-NCL. However, you might have a chance for less competitive branches (like Metallurgical, Mining, or Civil Engineering) in IITs like IIT BHU (Varanasi) or IIT Dhanbad (ISM) .

  • Newer IITs : You have a better chance of getting branches like Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering in newer IITs such as:

    • IIT Bhubaneswar
    • IIT Ropar
    • IIT Jodhpur
    • IIT Patna
    • IIT Mandi
    • IIT Gandhinagar

      Other Options:

  • IISERs or RGIPT : Institutes like the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) or the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) could also be good alternatives, depending on your interest.

i got 8600 rank in 2024 jee advance, at present i prefer for CS but dont prefer for MS in future, so considering that how sd i select IIT vs NIT vs BITS. or any stream in IIt rather than going in NIT or bITS. pl guide me

jadhavakshata623 7th Sep, 2024

Hello reader,

Anywhich ways in any college there exist an in-house quota for students which provides the facility for students of the particular college who provides the  in-house quota to approve the seat allotment for students of their college first compared to outside student who also compete against a common competitive exam for any higher study degree in India. Hence as you mentioned if you do not want to do MS in future you can prefer higher studies option in India. The in-house quota happens more often in IITs, NITs, and BITS like reputed institutes. Hence for now that is B.tech you can prefer a better college itself, this will secure your future in India.

crl rank 500000 and st rank 10182 in jossa counseling i can get which gfti or iiit

kumardurgesh1802 17th Sep, 2024

Hello there,

With a CRL rank of 500,000 and an ST category rank of 10,182 in JoSAA counseling, you have better chances of getting a seat through your ST category rank .

Possible Institutes:

  1. GFTIs (Government-Funded Technical Institutes):

    • Some of the newer or lesser-known GFTIs may offer seats in branches like Civil, Mechanical, Electrical , or Metallurgical Engineering .

    • Institutes like Assam University, Tezpur University, or Mizoram University may have higher cutoffs, giving you a better chance to get in.

  2. IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology):

    • Admission to newer or lesser-demand IIITs (such as IIIT Kottayam, IIIT Bhagalpur, IIIT Una ) might be possible, but branches may be in IT or Electronics-related fields .

      Important Considerations:
  • ST Reservation: Your ST rank will significantly boost your chances, especially in newer GFTIs and IIITs .

  • Multiple Rounds: Stay active in all JoSAA counseling rounds as cutoff ranks fluctuate, and you may get better opportunities in later rounds.

You can likely get admission to less competitive branches at newer GFTIs or IIITs . Keep an eye on the cutoffs during counseling.
