Admission to NITs is done if you qualify admission cutoff in jeemain.There are two types of cutoffs.one is qualifying cutoff and other is admission cutoff.qualifying cutoff in jeemains helps you write jee advanced,it doesnt neccesarily help you fetch seat in NITs.but admission cutoff is cutoffs for admission into NITs.so

You have to score the minimum qualifying cut off percentile in JEE Main in order to be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. Each year the cut off percentile changes depending on the total number of candidates appeared, difficulty level of examination and total number of seats available etc.
