What books to learn from for hitseee exam? Are state board books enough?

Hello Divya,

For HITSEEE exam you need to learn from NCERT books as well as some reference books. First you need to thoroughly read your NCERTs and then for further details about a particular topic you can use the reference books. You should also solve mock tests and sample papers to get a better grip on the subject. Some of the important books which you can refer to are listed below-

  • Concepts of Physics by H.C Verma
  • Problems in General Physics by I.E Irodov
  • Handbook of Physics by Nipendra Bhatnagar
  • Chapterwise Topicwise Solved Papers Mathematics for Engineering Entrances by B.L Sharma
  • Problems in Mathematics with Hints and Solutions by V.Govorov, P. Dybov, N. Miroshin, S. Smirnova
  • Problems in Physical Chemistry by Narendra Awasthi
  • Advanced Problems in Organic Chemistry by M.S Chouhan

The eligibility criteria of HITSEEE is that the candidates seeking admission to the first year of B.Tech degree programme must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (12th) prescribed by the State Board/Intermediate/Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE, New Delhi)/The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE, New Delhi) with Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry or equivalent subjects. As Madhya Pradesh board is a state board, you can.

At what age can i apply for HITSEEE ??

To apply in HITSEEE 2019 ,one must have cleared class 12 or equivalent with minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry exam as prescribed by Tamil Nadu Government. And the upper age limit must be 19 years old as on April 30, 2019.

Othe r eligibility criteria includes:

For Vocational Stream Applicants- Must have a minimum of 50% marks in the related subjects and vocational subjects both theory and practical.


For B.Tech Biotech Applicants- Must have a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics/Biology.

HITSEEE is a University level entrance exam only. It is conducted for admission in Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science, Chennai. The conducting body for this entrance exam is also Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science, Chennai itself. So if you can get admission in HITS Chennai only through this entrance as it is conducted for the university itself.

No It does not have any negative marking.

Eligibility for HITSEEE exam B. Tech. Courses.

1. A Pass in (10+2) or equivalent examination with a minimum average of 60% marks in Maths, Physics, & Chemistry.

2. For B.Tech. (Bio-Technology) alone, a pass in (10+2) with a minimum average of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics
