In JEE Advanced, positive score is the score of all answers you have given correctly, it has nothing to do with your rank. Whereas total score is taken after considering both your negative and positive score. You rank wholly depends on your total score.
First of all let me make you clear that from JEE-Advance no admission is made to any NIT or IIIT but yes if you are seeking for IITs then your JEE-Advance result is valid.

To get NIT you need to have a good rank in JEE Mains.JEE advance rank is used for the admission in IIT while JEE mains rank is used for admission in NIT,IIIT and gfti's.You cannot get a Nit college with your JEE Advance rank.
