Mostly, the desktops would be utilised for the JEE Mains and JEE Advanced exams. This would be for the online test or computer based test.
The desktops are a convenient way through which candidates can give exams easily. Speaking of Laptops and Tabs, they are not that convenient as

You can give the improvements again to be qualified for giving Jee-mains next time,so forst it depends on you how many subjects do you have to improve for scoring more than 70%.
So try hard and invest you time studying.

Since CBSE was conducting the JEE Mains till now, the number of attempts were 3 for any candidates.
From next year onwards, JEE Mains will be conducted twice a year by National Testing Agency (NTA) and they haven't notified as to how many attempts a candidates can have.
