Congrats for your result. GATE scores are valid for 3 years so you may apply to your college with this GATE score next year but it depends on the college's cutoff that you may or may not get the college.
From my side, I would recommend
PSU's that recruit through GATE EXAM require minimum percentage in BTech.
It doesn't matter in which attemot you cleared your subjects. But you need to have all your subjects cleared.
If they ask you the reason for scoring low during the interview, you must be able to handke the question.

As you have not mentioned branch hence it will be quite difficult to predict but still i am giving my opinion on all the branches.
If you are from Civil, EE, ECE, Mech or even CSE then it will be quite difficult to get IIT's or even NIT's.

See the marks u have score is enough for u to get admissioned in the good colleges like NITs for pursuing ur higher studies in the field of ur interest. U can also opt for other good state colleges and private institutions for ur MTECH career.
