if I join geo informatics in UG for my higher studies shall I able (qualify) to write gate exam

Pooja Bansal 25th Aug, 2022

Dear student,

Yes, if you opt for geo informatics in UG you can appear for the same subject in GATE. Geo informatics has been introduced by IIT Kharagpur in GATE EXAM 2023. As it's new subject in GATE you might not get much information yet but till you complete your UG you would have plenty of information.

All the best.

which online platform should I choose for gate cs 2024 exam preparation Pls give detailed explanation with the rank list.pls tell

Abhijit Tambade 1st Sep, 2022

Hello Sahil Kumar,

With the advancement in technology, preparing for the entrance exams like GATE from homes has become quite an easier task due to various online platforms.

Some of these platforms are free and accessible to all students while some are paid that are listed below:

Free platforms -

  • NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning)
  • MIT OCW (Opencourse Ware)
  • crackon.in/blog
  • exergic.in

Paid platforms -

  • Unacademy Plus
  • Deep Learn - ACE Engineering Academy
  • IES Master
  • Neostencil
  • Gateflix

Apart from these platforms, I would suggest you to stick to only one platform uptill the exam and be consistent in studies. Make a daily schedule, attain live classes, revise and practice regularly and follow this pattern strictly!

Hope this answers your question...

My obc.ncl rank in jeemains is 18654 ..and my comedk rank is 2760 ? what should I do if i want for higher study i think about gate exam?? what should I choose??

Ankit Modanwal 23rd Aug, 2022

Hey Student,

You have scored well enough in both the examination. If you want to go for higher studies, it doesn't matter from which college you are studying.

But if you go for Josaa Counselling then you have chances of securing seat in various NITs across country which are top level colleges with best faculty.

From B.tech level your basis will be strong and it will help you in gate exam and will be easy to crack it.

You can use JEE Main College predictor tool:

https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-college-predictor?ici=nav-header_engg&icn=jee-main_cp-lp

Whereas you can also use COMEDK College predictor:

https://engineering.careers360.com/comedk-college-predictor?utm_source=qna&utm_medium=ini-cet_cp

Do your own research also for this topic.

Hope you will find this helpful

Thank You

After qualifying GATE Biotechnology what are some relevant courses (and the institutes that offer them) that you can pursue?

Jyoti Eyasmin 19th Aug, 2022

Dear Ardra,

Options after passing the GATE biotechnology exam: -

IISc, IITs, and IISER PhD. Or MTech programmes in fields like food technology, biotechnology, or bioprocess engineering. It is good for three years. The monthly stipend is 31,000. + HRA (If applicable). You do not, however, receive a yearly contingency here. (Applicable if you are a Fellow of CSIR, DBT, or ICMR).

There are very few PSUs that recruit through GATE Biotechnology (0-1). Only one PSU, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), was hiring for the Scientist B job this year. Just one post was available. But in Biotech, BE/Btech equivalent was required for eligibility. NOT a master's in science However, the quantity of PSUs, the number of positions, and the eligibility may change from year to year.

In BARC, you can apply. if your GATE rank is high (top 50/100). Although I am unaware of the precise cutoff rank... You can enter the interview stage for a position with BARC right away ( No need to write a separate entrance conducted by BARC).

The GATE score can help you boost your application for an MS or PhD at a select few foreign universities in Germany, the USA, and Singapore (NTU/NUS). It may occasionally serve as a substitute for the GRE Subject examinations. These advantages differ from university to university. A thorough internet search is necessary.

Hope this helps.
Good luck.

After qualifying GATE Biotechnology, what are some relevant courses (and the institutes that offer them) that you can pursue?

Tanya Gupta 19th Aug, 2022

Hello,

Since yoy have qualified GATE, you can pursue M.E/M.Tech/Phd in NITs , IIITs, IITs and CFTIs. The selection of the candidates in any of these institutes is done on the basis of their GATE scores. You should also be sure of what is the right institute for you, the course you wish to pursue with the specialization suitable for you.

After 2012, many PSUs have started recruiting candidates who have qualified GATE and they select them based off of their score. This will give a new directiona to the career path of the candidates. The starting package of candidates recruited in top institues is  7 lakh to 11 lakh per annum.

I hope this helps,

What are the best books for Gate Chemistry Preparation?

suchismitaboxi2002 19th Aug, 2022
Hello student

For physical chemistry take up Atkins and PSP book, go through each working formula strategy and solve the example numericals from Puri Sharma pathania and K L Kapoor. Now if you have time try practising numericals from Atkins exercise(soln book is available)..It make you especially strong.
For Inorganic my focus is Coordination, Organomettalic, Bioinorganic. For that,  throughly read huheey, Ajay kumar .

For organic, you must have to cover all questions of Carruthers and Clayden atleast then you can read and solve Nantz and zweifel.
For Organic Spectroscopy follow Pavia and practice the solved question
For question practice, CSIR NET ten years and Gate 30 years in detailed way in a copy.
First try to solve a paper in 3 hrs, and calculate your marks in percent.. When it will become 60 to 70 percent you are ready.
Seperate the doubt question in another copy.
Working formula for physical from previous year question paper in another copy.

While preparing for any competitive exam, make sure you study and plan smartly. GATE in Chemistry is different from other engineering stream GATE exams. The paper is of 100 marks with 85 marks being for Chemistry and 15 marks for general aptitude. MCQ carries negative marking while NAT does not. The questions are of either 1 mark or 2 marks.

You should consider the following things while preparing:

Make a study plan first. Write down the topics from the syllabus and allocate the number of days you will need to give to a particular topic.
After reading a topic, make sure you do practice questions to test your understanding. Direct formulas are not always used in questions. Practicing questions will help you grasp a better knowledge of the subject.
Never forget to attempt previous year question papers. It is extremely important. You should have attempted at least 10-year papers positively one week before the exam. Questions do repeat.
Do not take aptitude section lightly. Those 15 marks can change the game. Practice from a general aptitude book from GATE. That would be enough. Aim to score 100% in the aptitude section.
Give the mock paper available on websites. It will make you familiar with the environment and the inbuilt calculator. You should not face any difficulty in making calculations during the exam.
Attempt all NAT questions. They do not carry negative marks.
In MCQ, try to eliminate answers while attempting. It will help you in reaching the final answer.
Do not study new topics two days before the exam. It will only create confusion.
Prepare a formula sheet. Revise it daily.
Stay calm and composed. Never lose hope. Do not panic during the exam. Never cheat on your time table. Study regularly and you will be good to go.

Best of luck
