According to GATE 2019 ,18783 students had applied under chemical engineering stream.But only 15537 students appeared for the same.In the year 2018 around 19026 applied and only 15858 students appeared.According to this we can expect about 15500 students every year under chemical engineering stream.

Since you need to apply separately for NITs and IITs of your choice you can avail EWS reservations while filling the application form for counselling.You need to have valid EWS certificate to claim reservations.Through CCMT you can apply for NITs and COAPT you can apply for IITs.
