Couselling for JEE Advanced and JEE Main is conducted jointly by JoSAA. The body conducts joint seat allocation procedure on the basis of candidates' All India Rank in the entrance exam.

You have a great rank in jee main you would get NIT and branch of your choice , but your jee advanced rank is also decent you may take a old IIT with a inferior branch and then work hard there for good cgpa so that you can upgrade your

If you really want to work hard an year go into a top IIT with a new/lower department and word hard for a department change.  This a secure way to go ahead. Department change is tough but the fact is people do. And it's tougher to improve your rank by

You have less chances to get into any top/good branch or college based on your score in mains and advanced.

You can try in private colleges of other state like UP, Rajasthan, Haryana etc..
