It depends on the difficulty of the question paper because I too gave my advanced in 2017 and I scored more than 30% and couldn't get seat in IIT's .But my previous batches go seat in IIT with 30%.Hope you understood.

Firstly, no exam is tough if you do hardwork and dedicatedly prepare for it .But it is true that jee is based upon concepts so if you have a good hold over concepts then you can easily crack jee advanced while gate demands dedication and hardwork.

Your rank in JEE won't help you get a good NIT or IIIT, if you're in General category. Sok, in case of having a reservation, you have a better chance. And, check the cutoff of your homestate NIT, as they have seats reserved for homestate students.
