JEE Advanced Preparation Tips 2025

Here are some tips and JEE Advanced preparation tips to crack the exam.

Keep the company of good books to get a good result!

How much harder one tries, if the study material and preparation is not up to the mark, there is a good chance things may go wrong. For example, if you buy a book that covers a specific subject's topics but uses difficult language, you might be forced to move at a snail’s pace. Then other books are easy to understand but contain many mistakes that are enough to sabotage your JEE Advanced 2025 plans.

Now it is incomprehensible to make wholesome changes to the books you are already following. But if there are areas that need some tweaking here & there is no harm in bolstering them with the right book or two.

NCERT Books Are For All Seasons

If there are a couple of topics where you lag conceptually, your first stop for building concepts should be NCERT books, which are generally easy to follow and mostly error-free. Besides, they have officially endorsed textbooks for the CBSE 10+ 2 exam.

Other reasons why NCERT Books are indispensable

  • Contain illustrations making it fun and easier to understand difficult concepts

  • There are exercises at the end of every chapter which is designed to edify concepts included in that chapter

  • Important points that the candidate needs to remember are highlighted for easy reference. So, if the candidate needs to do a quick revision, he/she can simply go through the highlighted points

Don’t burn all your fuel before exam day

A common mistake students make is they prepare so hard in the last few days, forgoing sleep and food, that by the time the exam day arrives, they are in the worst physical and mental condition. Consequently, at the exam, they make one silly mistake after another and tend to panic at the slightest trouble. To avoid such a fate, it is necessary to rest properly and eat healthy food so that you are in peak health and mental condition on exam day. When you are happy and relaxed, you can see things clearly and handle even the most difficult of situations with a cool head.

So, how do you relax and stay happy during these stressful days?

You can just about do anything that makes you forget about the exam. Like you can play with your pets, go for a light jog in the morning, watch a comedy show, or engage in lively chatter with your mom or sister.

Don’t think too far ahead

There is no doubt with JEE Advanced the stakes are very high: there is an IIT seat to be won or lost. But you don’t achieve your dreams by daydreaming. Instead, you have to be in the present, prepare hard, and also rate your progress on a day-to-day basis.

If you race ahead of time and dream of getting admission into, say, IITB, you are building unnecessary expectations and putting yourself under pressure. A more effective strategy is to follow the mantra: work hard and results will follow.

Get familiar with the JEE Advanced Exam Pattern 2025

The exam pattern of JEE Advanced is different from JEE Mains. So, the candidate needs to take this into account when making a preparation strategy. The exam pattern includes details like marking scheme, distribution of questions, and type of question which is useful for making preparation plans. However, here is last year’s exam pattern to give you a fair idea about this year’s pattern as well.

Get going with JEE Advanced Previous Papers

Along with studying textbooks and working practice sets, the candidate is also urged to try a couple of JEE Advanced 2025 sample papers to get into the exam mode. Doing sample papers will help the candidate work on time management and accuracy. It may be noted that to be successful in JEE Advanced, it is simply not enough to be fast, but he/she must also be accurate.

Note: Sample papers on their own aren’t enough to build accuracy, but they can build on what the candidate has learned from the textbook and practice sets.

Don’t let self-doubt creep in

Always believe in your abilities and stay away from naysayers. Believing in oneself also means being positive, which in turn would help you stay relaxed. If you make a few mistakes when doing a problem, don’t get disheartened, but be optimistic that you at least now know where errors are happening. Plug those holes and you may not make that mistake on exam day. As the adage goes: See the glass as half full, not half empty!!

Make it a habit to take notes when studying

The small notes you take when reading a book or when solving a problem are very handy when doing revision. To begin with, it is a collection of points that are tailor-made for you (after all it is you who have compiled it), Second, the notes will help you simply go through the important points without having to go through huge blocks of text. With exam day getting closer and closer, there may be many sections that you could do without having to spend so much time and energy.

Questions related to JEE Advanced

Have a question related to JEE Advanced ?

Hello there,

To pursue an integrated M.Tech after a diploma, especially with the goal of getting into IITs through JEE Mains and Advanced, here's what you should consider:

1. Eligibility for JEE Mains and Advanced after a Diploma:

JEE Mains: Diploma holders are not eligible for direct admission to NITs/IITs for undergraduate courses (like B.Tech or integrated M.Tech) via JEE Mains. However, diploma holders can write the exam for qualifying in JEE Advanced, but not for direct entry to undergraduate programs.

JEE Advanced: You may be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced if you first clear JEE Mains. However, diploma holders cannot directly apply to undergraduate programs at IITs even after qualifying for JEE Advanced. The diploma may not be considered equivalent to 12th grade by the IIT system for undergraduate admissions.

2. Alternate Pathways to IITs for Integrated M.Tech:

Lateral Entry Programs: Some institutes offer lateral entry to diploma holders into 2nd year B.Tech courses, but IITs do not typically have lateral entry schemes.

Other Institutes: You might consider other premier institutes that offer integrated programs, or lateral entry for diploma holders.

3. Options Beyond IITs:

You can pursue lateral entry to B.Tech courses in other reputed engineering institutes. After completing B.Tech, you can aim for GATE to get into IITs for M.Tech.

Some state universities or private universities may offer integrated M.Tech programs or lateral entry schemes that accept diploma holders.

Summary:

-Direct entry to IITs via JEE after a diploma isn't typically an option.

- You could aim to finish a B.Tech at a good institute via lateral entry and then pursue an M.Tech at IITs through GATE.

Hope this information helps. Good Luck!

Atleast you decide to prepare for boards finally no matter how late Just keep the same enthusiasm and zeal for the next three months and you will definitely achieve your goal.

Evaluate the options you have.

Select the best one.

Make a plan for each subject

Go with it till the end no matter how tough the situation is.

Hello there,

You can use the given link to get started with your preparations of JEE Advance 2025.

All the best.

No, your first JEE Mains attempt won't be wasted even if you don't clear JEE Advanced or the second attempt of JEE Mains. The JEE Mains considers the best score from both attempts. So, if your first attempt was good, it will be considered for your overall rank. To appear for JEE Advanced, you need to qualify for JEE Mains only once in the same year. So, your first attempt qualifying score is enough to make you eligible for JEE Advanced.

I hope this information helps.

Every year toughness of JEE Advanced varies so it is almost impossible to predict which score is safe but , let me give you a very rough idea marks around 230 for general category candidates will have good chance for CSE department in IITs.

RAnk under 650 for general candidates is sure shot for top IITs and for all other IITs cse departments rank ,under 4K is a safe rank.
