Handy Notes- Make notes side by side while studying as it will prove to be very helpful in the later stages of preparation for doing the revision.
Mock Tests - Practise as many mock tests as possible as it will not only give you an idea about the exam pattern but also it will help you in recognizing your weak areas so that you could work on them to score better.
Time Management - Just having the knowledge of every topic would not be enough. It is necessary to learn to implement that knowledge and being able to attempt the question paper within the stipulated time.
Revise - Revise and keep revising till everything is on the fingertips.
Syllabus - Get familiar with the syllabus to ensure that all the topics are covered and nothing is skipped from studying. Knowing the syllabus will also help in planning the schedule.
Stay away from distractions - Maintain an appropriate distance from everything which could act as a distraction in your preparation. There is no place for distraction in the journey of preparation towards success.

Questions related to GATE
i currently doing my b.tech from bihar engineering college, in Electrical branch, i want to prepare for gate 2024 what should i do and dont ?
Dear Aspirant,
That's actually great knowing that you have ample time to prepare for the exam. 3 years of dedicated & consistent practice will yield will very good results. I appreciate your thought about the same.
Firstly, download the syllabus of your stream from the official site of GATE. After that interact with students from your vicinity & in your circle if anyone is preparing for the same. You can also watch YT videos for getting more information about your particular stream. Kindly be known of what is expected of you & what you need to do everyday. Enjoy the learning process & you'll absolutely enjoy to solve the application problems of the exam. Understand the basic concepts of your stream & read them thoroughly. This will help you understand the concept. Be in touch with the subjects, prepare small notes for whatever you are learning. By this, you can do revision & will not forget easily. Solve problems & get on test series later in your final year. Be consistent & prepare well for the same.
Thanks.
is there any negative matk availablr for gate exam??
Hello,
Yes there are negative marking in gate. This year GATE exam paper will have three different types of question pattern. There will be Multiple choice question (MCQs) where you will have four options and only one is correct. Then you have fill the blank type where you won't have any options you need to solve the question and put the obtained value in the blank and the final question type which is added this year is the Multiple selection questions (MSQs) where you will have four options and more than one can be correct you will need to choose the right option and in such questions if you do not select all the right options then you will be awarded zero marks. There are no partial markings for such questions but the good news is that there are not negative marking for Multiple selection questions (MSQs) and fill the blank type. Only the MCQs will have negative marking for 1 mark questions 1/3 mark will be deducted every wrong answer and for 2 mark questions 2/3 mark will be deducted for every incorrect response.
How to clear GATE Exam in Computer science
Hello,
Hope you are doing good.
Below I have provided some tips for preparing for the GATE examination:
-
The most important thing that has to be done first is to understand the exam pattern, the dates and the syllabus . This helps you to understand which topics you will have to spend more time on and plan your timetable accordingly. Below I have shared a link where you can find the syllabus and the weightage: https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/gate-syllabus
-
Once you get to know about the syllabus and the dates, now you can set a timetable. You can decide how many days or hours you will be keeping for each subjects, revision and to practice previous year papers and mock tests. Manage time in a way that you spend enough time on difficult topics and also ensure that you have ample time for revision and practice.
-
Another important thing to keep in mind is to find the correct books for you . Some books may be hard to follow, so try to get materials that are written in a student friendly language. Below I have given a link where you can find details about the best study materials for the Computer Science branch:
https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/what-are-best-books-for-gate-cse
-
While studying the subjects make sure you keep note of important points and equations in a separate book . This will come in handy at the time of revision.
-
Once you are done studying the subjects start revising and doing previous year papers and mock question papers on a daily basis . This helps you to recollect the formulas, gives you an idea on where you have to improve and will also help you to manage time better. Make it a point to solve atleast one paper every day during the month you have kept apart for revision and practicing question papers.
Below I have shared a link where you can get the previous years question papers for various streams:
https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/gate-question-papers
- Another important thing is that don’t study anything new at the last minute and this can create confusions.
-
NEVER TAKE YOUR HEALTH FOR GRANTED . Get proper sleep, eat healthy food and keep your self hydrated. Ensure that you do not stress your self too much and give enough time to relax and take breaks. Always remember that if you are stressed out then take a break as it would not bring out any good results when you put yourself in more stress.
-
Finally, on the day of the exam relax and don’t get tensed. Keep your mind clear and give the exam. You will surely be able to do well.
Following these and being completely dedicated to this, I am sure you will be able to clear the GATE examination.
Hope this was useful.
Good Luck
i am completed my bsc in biotechnology and now i pursuing msc in food technology can i elegible for gate biotechnology entrance test.
Hi Aspirant,
Let me clear this to you.Bsc (3 year) student are not eligible for Gate .The eligibility for giving gate examination is that you must have pursued 4 years qualifying degree after 10+2 level. However Bsc degree holder in engineering, technology etc who have 4 years of study are eligible for Gate however.
Hope it helps!!
In the CS 2021 GATE syllabus, only the word integration is mentioned. So, do we just have to consider only Definite and Indefinite integrals or we should be studying on multiple integrals and gamma / beta integration too just like the ECE syllabus ?
Yes, you have to study the whole Integration as like ECE or EE or CH or CE or ME branches.
The word integration doesn't means that it will only come as indefinite or definite integration. You have to study all the sub topics, like single integration, double integration, triple integration, gamma or beta function, Euler's formula, wallis theorem, etc.
You can check out the cse previous years question papers for the detailed topic wise distribution.
Because in the syllabus it is not mentioned topics wise, but if you see the previous years question papers, then you would get all sorts of questions based on integration.
