Collectively, the top engineering colleges in Karnataka marked a 71.83 per cent success rate in placement of BTech graduates from the batch of 2022. This data was collected from the official NIRF 2023 report.
Notably, seven prestigious engineering colleges from Karnataka earned a spot in this year’s NIRF list. Out of these seven institutes, only one institute was ranked among the All India top 20 institutions under the engineering category.
Careers360, meticulously studied and analysed data on intake – or the total number of seats – actual enrollment, graduating batch and the placement. Two out of the top seven, Visvesvaraya Technological University Belagavi and International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Bangalore, were excluded from the analysis because they do not offer the standard four-year undergraduate programme or offer an integrated course combining UG and PG studies. Hence, for a balanced analysis, we have considered five premier institutions that offer the standard four year BTech programme.

The following were judged to be the best engineering colleges in Karnataka.
Best Engineering Colleges
In several instances witnessed an enrollment rate surpassing the intake capacity, a phenomenon primarily attributed to lateral entry provisions. In the context of Karnataka, the variance between intake and enrollment was approximately 8 per cent, which means for an intake capacity of 100, 108 students enrolled.
Collectively, these top-tier colleges achieved a remarkable graduation rate, with more than 97.85 per cent of enrolled students completing their studies in 2022. Impressively, 71.83 per cent of these graduates embarked on their professional journeys.

Around 10 per cent of the students went for higher education rather than going for a job. Students who accepted the campus placement offers collectively had an average median salary of Rs. 9.92 lakh per annum.

Admission to these top engineering institutions occurs through three distinct channels. For central institutions like NIT Surathkal, admission hinges on the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, conducted by the central National Testing Agency.
Several private colleges admit through a common entrance test, COMEDK-UGET, conducted by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka. In addition, most institutions consider scores from the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET), conducted by the government's Karnataka Examination Authority.
