The pressure (P)-volume (V) isotherm of a van der Waals gas, at the temperature at which it undergoes gas to liquid transition, is correctly represented by
Now As you have learned about types of adsorption. Let us know how to calculate the extent of the adsorption. This calculation is mainly done using different types of adsorption isotherms. We will limit ourselves to only Freundlich adsorption isotherm.
What is adsorption isotherm?
The variation in the amount of gas adsorbed by the adsorbent with pressure at constant temperature can be expressed by means of a curve termed as adsorption isotherm.
Or in other words, the plots of the extent of adsorption(x/m) vs pressure at constant temperature are called Adsorption isotherms.
Here 'x' refers to the mass of gas adsorbed by 'm' mass of adsorbent.
