To resolve tie-breaker situations where candidates attain the same aggregate marks in HPCET 2026 or the qualifying examination, Himachal Pradesh Technical University will implement the following rules.

The candidate with higher marks in Physics will be ranked higher.
If Physics scores are equal, then higher Chemistry marks will be the differentiator.
When both Physics and Chemistry marks are identical, the marks in the third subject will be compared.
If the tie persists, the 12th standard qualifying examination marks will come into play during counselling if not provided in the HPCET 2026 application.
If the qualifying exam marks are also identical, candidates' dates of birth will be considered, with older candidates receiving priority in rankings.
Based on the HPCET exam result 2026 or JEE Main scores, the authorities will prepare the merit list. Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for the HPCET 2026 counselling process. Candidates will be able to check the merit list of HPCET 2026 on the official website.
