Some aspirants appear in the GATE examination to get admission in top institutes like IIT, NIT, and others. The applicant must acquire more than 95 percentile to get admission in top engineering institutes of India. There are some institutes that give admission to students with low GATE scores or ranks. There are 1074 colleges in India that accept GATE scores for admission in M. Tech. There are 827 private colleges and 247 government colleges. Their average fee ranges from 7,000 to 10 Lakhs.
GATE entrance exam stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. It is conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and the 7 Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT). Its scores are valid from the declaration of results till the next 3 years. The GATE entrance exam is conducted for admission in M. Tech. It is commonly called a Computer Based Test (CBT) as it is an online exam. The question paper is divided into 3 sections and has 3 types of questions- multiple-choice questions (MCQs), multiple select questions (MSQs), and numerical answer type questions. It is of 100 marks. The question paper consists of 65 questions that revolve around engineering mathematics, general aptitude, and the specified subject. The duration of the paper is 3 hours.
