DRDO Recruitment through GATE 2020/2019/2018 - Defence Research & Development Organization will be commencing the application process for DRDO recruitment through GATE 2020/2019/2018 on May 29, 2020 (5 PM). The registration process was supposed to start on May 22, 2020 but has been postponed due to technical errors. Eligible candidates will be able to access the application form till July 10, 2020 in online mode at the official website. Before filling out the application form, the candidates are advised to check the eligibility carefully since it is different for disciplines in Part I and Part II. Selection of candidates for the post of Scientist ‘B’ will be done on the basis of GATE scores (Part I), descriptive examination (Part II) and personal interview. Candidates will be required to meet some conditions which will be set up by the authorities to participate in the recruitment process. If the criteria are not met, then the candidates will be disqualified. Some of the general criteria are listed below:

Unreserved category candidates should not be over 28 years of age. Similarly, OBC category candidates should not be over 31 years and SC/ST category candidates should not be over 33 years of age.
PwD (HH) and PwD(OH) candidates will be given relaxation of upto 10 years in marked disciplines.
The upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years for serving Central Civilian Govt. employees working in posts which are in the same line or allied cadres only if a relationship could be established that the service already rendered in a particular post will be useful for the efficient discharge of the duties of the advertised posts.
Ex-servicemen including Ex SSCOs/ECOs as per rules in vogue can also enjoy age relaxation.
Category I: Should have the requisite Essential Qualification (EQ) along with a valid GATE 2018/2019/2020 qualification.
Category II: Should possess the required Essential Qualification (EQ) from IITs/NITs with minimum aggregate 80% marks.

Candidates will have to register by submitting their details such as name, email address, mobile number. A password also has to be generated.
Personal, academic and contact details have to be submitted. For descriptive exam, two choices of centres also have to be selected.
The required documents have to be scanned and uploaded.
Candidates will also have to pay the required application fee.
The application form has to be submitted and the acknowledgement slip has to be printed out for future use.

The exam will be descriptive in nature and will consist of two papers.
Each paper will be of 300 marks each and held in pen and paper based mode.
The exam will be conducted in two sessions of duration of three hours each.
The syllabus is available in the website and is similar to Engineering Services Examination (Mains) in the relevant discipline conducted by UPSC.
The exam will be held at DRDO centres in seven cities (Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kolkata, and Pune). If the need arises, then other city centres will also be added.
Only the shortlisted candidates will be able to download their admit card in online mode.
Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of GATE scores and/or descriptive examination. Personal interview performance will also be taken into consideration.
Selection of candidates will be restricted to the number of vacancies in order of merit.
The final result will be declared in online mode.
For Part I - 80% weightage will be given to the descriptive examination and 20% weightage to personal interview.
For Part II - 80% weightage will be given to the GATE scores and 20% weightage to personal interview
Pay Scale: Level-10 (7th CPC) of the Pay Matrix (Rs. 56,100/-) in specific disciplines and categories. Total emoluments (inclusive of HRA and all other allowances) at the time of joining will be approximately Rs. 80,000/- p.m. at the present metro city rate.

The descriptive entrance examination is valid for only the disciplines listed out in Part I. The merit of the entrance exam and personal interview will be taken into account during selection.

GATE is usually conducted in the month of February once in a year.The official notification will be released in the month of July/August and registrations will begin in the month of September first week tentatively.And results will be announced in the third week of March tentatively.
mainly jrf recruitment is done by ugc net score, however institute like iit kharagpur, iit kanpur has lots of research fellow recruitment comes for students who are recently pass b.tech course , have interest for research in new technologies, interested to do phd in future ,should apply for jrf positions. however there is no specific number of recruitment do not comes every year, it depends on the projects and funding for hiring of jrf, however by getting good score in gate you may go for m.tech course and may apply for psus job.
BITS gives admission to it's M.E. program through 2 process:
50% seats for BITS HD test students and 50% seats for students through GATE/GPAT.
According to past year records, one needs to score at least ~650 marks in GATE CS for admission.

BITS Hyderbad has a good placement record, where in previous years the highest package was 14 lakhs per annum and average salary 6 lakhs per annum. Microsoft, Infosys, Wipro, Samsung were also part of the recruitment drive.
If you get BITS Pilani campus, then it would be better and obviously Indian Institute of Technology and IISc are much preferred for M.Techs.
