What is JEE(Main)?
JEE(Main) is a common entrance exam conducted twice in a year. The conducting body, National Testing Agency releases application forms and eligibility criteria for JEE(Main) in its official brochure. Generally, students who are class 12 pass out with science background are considered eligible for appearing in JEE(Main). The entrance exam is conducted in two papers. Paper-1 is for admissions into B.tech courses while paper-2 is held for admissions in B.Arch and B.Plan. Clearing JEE(Main) is also a prerequisite for appearing in JEE(Advanced), which gives admissions in undergraduate courses of engineering in prestigious IITs and many IISc of the country.

In 2017-2018, National Institute of Technology Karnataka placed 870 students out of a total of 1159 eligible students.
