Mining Engineering is a unique and adventurous profession. It encompasses the geo sciences, engineering technologies of mining and also economics of operations. The opportunities in this field are infinite. A Mining Engineer can be managing highly mechanized underground or opencast mines, or planning & maintaining the systems and processes for safe operation of a mine or optimizing various economic parameters for sustainable mineral exploitation. He/she may also be involved in looking into different mineral dressing operations.

The Mining Industry has become technologically advanced, which has enhanced the productivity and also maximized safety and environmental protection. Mining Engineers today are required to have expertise in various fields. The institutes teaching Mining Engineering provide the required knowledge to create a Mining Engineer compatible to the industry. A person, who is interested in science and natural resources, loves to play with big machines and is good in solving problems, has a lot to do as a Mining Engineer.

Mining: A Growing Sector

In addition to domestic demand growth, the Indian Mining Industry is also likely to see accelerated growth in exports demand. To meet this increased requirement, the number of big mechanized mines with very high production has increased considerably.
