Step 1 - JEE Main
The first step towards B.Tech admissions in IIT Roorkee is Joint Entrance Examination Main or commonly known as JEE Main. The engineering entrance exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and around 9 lakh students apply for it on an annual basis. The examination is held twice a year in computer based mode. For IIT Roorkee B.Tech admissions, the students will have to qualify JEE Main Paper 1 and be placed among the top 2,50,000. Only these students will be allowed to attempt JEE Advanced. Students should have also secured at least 75% marks (65% for SC/ST category candidates) or be under the top 20 percentile of their respective boards for admissions.
Step 2 - JEE Advanced
Next, those students who meet the criteria of being placed under the top 2.50.000 JEE Main qualified candidates will be able to register for JEE Advanced. The entrance examination is conducted by IITs and is a computer based test. By qualifying JEE Advanced, the students will be eligible for a chance of IIT admissions. Both Paper 1 and Paper 2 have to be attempted by the students to qualify. However, all qualified students may not get a chance of admission into IIT Roorkee since the cutoff varies as per the course. Only those students who meet the cutoff will have higher chances of admission.
Step 3 - JoSAA
Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) conducts a common counselling for JEE Advanced qualified students. No other process will allow the students to get allotted into IITs. The qualified students will have to register and select their preferred course and institute. However, allotment will be done through JoSAA on the basis of merit, eligibility, preference and availability of seats. The predetermined cutoff will be checked for the admission process. After the allotment is announced, the candidates will have to accept their seats and complete the admission process by reporting, verifying their documents and paying the required fee.

Securing a rank below 100 in JEE ADVANCED with a preparation of few months is practically impossible because the level of questions asked in JEE ADVANCED is very difficult.
You have to be crystal clear with each and every concept and should possess excellent problem solving skills. I would suggest to try as hard as you can for this year and in case you are unable to crack it I would highly suggest you to drop a year and again appear for it.
