With an 81.3 percentile in JEE Main as an SC category female candidate, securing Aerospace Engineering at NIT Surathkal is unlikely, as past SC category cutoffs for engineering branches were within a rank of 6,000. Your estimated rank is significantly higher, reducing admission chances. However, cutoffs fluctuate, so participating in JoSAA counseling, exploring other NITs, or considering alternative institutions is advisable. If feasible, reappearing for JEE Main to improve your score could enhance your chances in the next admission cycle.

Hello Vikas,

Here are some M.Tech Aerospace Engineering colleges in India that don't require GATE :

  1. Institute of Aeronautical Engineering (IARE), Hyderabad – Admission through university entrance or academic merit.

  2. Malla Reddy College of Engineering and Technology (MRCET), Hyderabad – May conduct its own entrance test for non-GATE candidates.

  3. VTU Affiliated Colleges, Karnataka – Some autonomous colleges under VTU accept non-GATE candidates through entrance exams or academic performance.

    Tips:
    • Contact the colleges directly for exact admission criteria.
    • Prepare for alternative entrance exams.
    • Consider related fields like Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering if Aerospace seats are limited.

I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries, then feel free to share your questions with us, we will be happy to assist you.

Thank you, and I wish you all the best in your bright future.

Hello,

If you aim to pursue Aerospace Engineering without relying solely on JEE Main scores, consider the following colleges:

  • Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS) Pilani – Admission through BITSAT; average annual fee Rs. 4-6 lakhs.
  • Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Karnataka – Conducts its own entrance exam, MET; average annual fee Rs. 4-6 lakhs.
  • Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) – Offers admission via VITEEE; average annual fee Rs. 2-5 lakhs.
  • SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRM University) – Conducts SRMJEEE for admissions; average annual fee Rs. 2.5-4 lakhs.
  • Amrita Schools of Engineering – Offers Aerospace Engineering; conducts AEEE for admissions.
  • B.M.S. College of Engineering (BMSCE), Bangalore – Offers Aerospace Engineering; accepts scores from Karnataka CET and COMEDK exams.
  • R.V. College of Engineering (RVCE), Bangalore – Offers Aerospace Engineering; accepts scores from KEA CET and COMEDK exams.
  • MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT), Bangalore – Offers Aerospace Engineering; accepts scores from KEA CET and COMEDK exams.
  • Amity University, Noida – Offers BTech in Aerospace Engineering; conducts Amity JEE for admissions.
  • Anna University, Chennai – Offers BE in Aeronautical Engineering; admissions through TNEA based on 12th marks.

These institutions provide alternative entrance exams or admission processes, allowing you to pursue Aerospace Engineering without solely depending on JEE Main scores.

Hope you find it useful !

Hello there,

Based on your AEEE percentile of 25.67 , securing a B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham's Coimbatore campus under Slab 3 is highly unlikely. Historically, admission to Aerospace Engineering at the Coimbatore campus requires significantly higher percentiles. For instance, in previous years, the closing ranks for Aerospace Engineering were around 16,796, corresponding to much higher percentiles.

Given your current percentile, it would be prudent to explore alternative engineering branches or consider other campuses where the cutoff percentiles align more closely with your score. Additionally, you might want to look into other institutions that offer Aerospace Engineering with more accessible admission criteria.

Thank you and wishing you all the best for your bright future.

Hello Palak,

I don’t have personal experiences, but I can provide an honest review based on student feedback, faculty quality, placements, and industry exposure at Amity University for B.Tech/M.Tech in Aerospace Engineering .

Pros:

  1. Decent Infrastructure – Well-equipped labs and research facilities for aerodynamics, propulsion, and materials.

  2. Good Faculty (Mixed Reviews) – Some experienced professors, but many are from general engineering backgrounds, not specialized in aerospace.

  3. Flexible Curriculum – Industry-oriented subjects and electives help in career development.

  4. Industry Tie-ups – Collaborations with ISRO, DRDO, and private aerospace companies like Boeing for projects.

    Cons:

  5. Placement Issues – Aerospace jobs are very limited . Most students switch to IT or general engineering roles due to fewer core job opportunities.

  6. High Fees (Rs. 3-4 LPA) – The return on investment (ROI) is low unless you secure an off-campus job.

  7. Lack of Hardcore Research – Not as strong as IITs or specialized institutes like IIST in terms of research in propulsion, avionics, or space tech .

  8. More Theoretical, Less Practical Exposure – You may need to do internships outside to gain hands-on experience.

    Verdict:
  • If you want to stay in India and work in aerospace , consider IIST, IITs, MIT Manipal, or UPES instead.

  • If you want a private university with decent exposure , Amity is fine , but you must plan for higher studies (M.Tech/MS abroad) or transition into software/IT for better opportunities.

I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries then feel free to share your questions with us we will be happy to assist you.

Thank you and wishing you all the best for your bright future.

As a physically handicapped (PwD) student aspiring to study Aerospace Engineering in India through JEE Mains, the rank you need depends on the specific institute and category (General-PwD, OBC-PwD, SC/ST-PwD) are:

For Admission to IITs through JEE Advanced:

General PwD: Aim for a JEE Advanced PwD rank under 400. Top IITs like IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, and IIT Kanpur offer aerospace programs.

OBC/SC/ST PwD: A slightly higher rank may suffice, but aim for under 600 to increase your chances.

For Admission to NITs through JEE Mains:

To secure a seat in Aerospace Engineering in NITs (e.g., NIT Trichy or NIT Surathkal):

General PwD: Aim for a JEE Main PwD rank under 1500.

OBC-PwD: Rank under 2000.

SC/ST-PwD: Rank under 3000.

Other Institutes Offering Aerospace Engineering:

IIIT Hyderabad

BITS Pilani (requires BITSAT)

Private Colleges (like SRM, Manipal) that have relaxed criteria for PwD candidates.

Hello there,

To pursue a career in aerospace engineering, you have two main options after 10th:

1. JEE Route (For Degree Courses)

  • After completing 12th with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics), you can write JEE Main and JEE Advanced to get admission into top colleges offering aerospace engineering, like IITs or NITs .

    2. Diploma in Aerospace Engineering (After 10th)

  • You can directly pursue a diploma in aerospace engineering after 10th. This option allows you to enter the field early, and after completing the diploma, you can go for lateral entry into a degree program.

Best Aerospace Engineering Colleges in Maharashtra (For Diploma):
  1. Indian Institute for Aeronautical Engineering and Information Technology (IIAEIT), Pune
