IIT Guwahati M.Tech Admission 2017IIT Guwahati M.Tech Admission 2018 will be done on the basis of candidates performance in GATE 2018. Candidates having studied or passed B.Tech from IITs with a CGPA of 8 are eligible for direct admissions to M.Tech programmes across IITs whereas rest all candidates are required to have appeared in GATE test. In order to apply for M.Tech admission at IIT Guwahati, the candidates have to apply through 2 channels – through the application portal of IIT Guwahati and through Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) for accepting admission offers. GATE scores are valid for 3 years and thus, candidates are eligible to apply for IIT Guwahati M.Tech Admission 2018. Candidates have to apply through both the channels. The application form for IIT Guwahati M.Tech admissions 2018 was open from March 22 to April 16, 2018. Before applying for M.Tech admissions at IIT Guwahati, the aspiring candidates carefully check the eligibility criteria for the same. M.Tech Admission Process through GATE 2018

  • For M.Tech admissions at IITs, the candidates have to first apply at the individual IIT and then have to apply through Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) for accepting admission offers.

  • However, for M.Tech admissions at NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded institutes through GATE 2018, the admission process is different - Centralized Counselling for M.Tech. (CCMT). Candidates have to fill the application form and apply for admissions through this process.

  • Candidates are informed via SMS/registered email about their admission offers. They can also check their offers through candidate log in at the COAP portal.

  • For M.Tech admissions at NITs, IIITs and centrally funded institutions through CCMT, seats are allotted to the candidates through counselling and seat allotment procedure.

IIT Guwahati M.Tech Eligibility Criteria 2018 (Basic Criteria)

  • Candidates must have secured CPI of 6.5 or 60% marks in the qualifying degree, fulfilling specific requirements for different programmes. SC/ST/PwD candidates get relaxation of 5%  marks or 0.5 CPI. 

  • All regular candidates should have valid GATE scores.

  • Candidates having B.Tech degree from any IIT with minimum CPI of 7 can apply for direct admissions across IITs.

  • Candidates claiming reservation have to enclose certificate and self­declaration statement as per the prescribed format.

  • Candidates who are yet to appear in the qualifying exam are also eligible to apply for M.Tech admissions. However, they appear in all their qualifying degree examinations and complete all requirements for their degrees before July 14, 2017. If such candidates get provisional admission, they are required to produce the qualifying degree exam result latest by August 21, 2017.

For `Power and Control’ specialization, a valid GATE score in `EE’ or `IN’ is a must.

How to fill IIT Guwahati M.Tech Application Form 2018?

 

There are a few stages which the candidates had to undergo before filling the application form for M.Tech admission at IIT Guwahati.

  • Stage 1 – Downloading the Guidelines for filling the online application form

  • Stage 2 – Filling the application form and uploading relevant documents

  • Stage 3 – Print the filled in application form

Caution – What to keep ready before filling the IIT Guwahati M.Tech application form?

It must be noted that before the candidates started to fill the application form, they had to keep the following documents/certificates in the prescribed format,

Documents to be uploaded

  • A scanned copy of your recent coloured photograph (more than 15 KB but less than 80 KB) in (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm) with jpeg/jpg/gif format.

  • A copy of your class 10th/12th marksheet/pass certificate as a proof of Date of Birth

  • Caste certificate for claiming reservation, in image format (jpeg/jpg/gif format) with size more than 80 KB but less than 200 KB for uploading online. The OBC(NCL)  certificate must be issued by the competent authority on or after April 1, 2017 (If applicable).

  • PwD certificate with size more than 80 KB but less than 200 KB (If applicable).

  • Scanned copy of pass certificate (original/provisional) of the qualifying exam (more than 80 KB but less than 200 KB).

  • Consolidated Mark Sheet of the Qualifying Degree (more than 80 KB but less than 200 KB). In case you are not able to upload them online, you have to produce them at the time of interview or test if called for that.

  • Candidates appearing in their final exam, must keep their marksheet of the previous year/semester of the qualifying test.

  • Scanned copy of Qualifying Degree Grade Point Average to Percentage conversion certificate or proof thereof (more than 80 KB but less than 200 KB)

  • Scanned Soft copy of your GATE/CEED Score Card (more than 80 KB but less than 200 KB)

  • Attested copy of Certificates related to your professional experience, etc (if applicable)

  • A DD in case a candidate is called for appearing in Written Test/Interview/Counselling, only then he/she will be required to arrange a Demand Draft of Rs.150­ (Rs.75 for SC/ST/PwD) from any nationalized bank in favour of INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, GUWAHATI, payable at Guwahati.

Stage 1 – Downloading the Guidelines for filling the online application form

While filling the application form for M.Tech admissions, the candidates had to download the guidelines about how to fill up the online application form. The guidelines had to be read through carefully and followed to fill the application form.

 

Stage 2 – Filling the application form

Already registered candidates had to log in while the new users were required sign up using their date of birth and registered email ID.

Enter personal information like,

  • Name

  • Gender

  • Date of birth

  • Father/Guardian's name

  • Caste/Category

  • Marital Status

  • Nationality

  • Details about disability (if any)

  • Contact Information – Address, pin code, email, mobile number

  • Details about educational qualification

  • Details related to professional experience

  • Upload candidate’s coloured photograph and signature (From 15 KB to 80 KB in jpeg/jpg format)

  • Upload all the required certificates/documents from the list above (Whichever is applicable)

  • Select your preferred department and area of specialisation in order of priority from higher to lower

Stage 3 – Print the filled in application form

Important: Preview and cross-check of all the details entered/inserted in the online application form had to be done. Candidates were able to download and take print out of the filled in online application form only after the application deadline. Candidates also had to download the format of the various certificates from the online application form portal itself.

 

Note: Candidates had to note that if they were called for written test/interview or counselling, then they has to carry their original documents along with the attested photocopies. They also had to download and take printout of the filled in application form after the deadline as it needs to be produced at the time of interview/written test/counselling.

 

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates must bring the following to the venue if they are called for Written Test/Interview/counselling,

  • Online application form printout

  • DD for the application fee (Check all details from the list of documents above)

  • The above-listed documents in original and attested photocopies (whichever is applicable)
