Good luck!
With a JEE Mains rank around 203,820, chances of getting top NITs or IIITs are low. You may get admission in some state-level or private engineering colleges across India. Branches like ECE or EE are more likely than CSE or IT, as those are highly competitive. Consider looking into newer NITs or private universities too.
With a JEE Main rank around 5 lakhs, getting CSE in top NITs or IIITs is unlikely. However, you can explore private universities like LPU, SRM, or state-level colleges through counselling. Also, check for spot round or management quota options in some institutes.
With an OBC-NCL category rank of 2,13,000 in JEE Mains, it is quite unlikely that you will get a seat in Government Engineering College Bikaner through the JoSAA counselling, especially in popular branches like CSE, ECE, or IT. This college generally closes at a much lower OBC rank for most branches.
However, you may still have a chance through CSAB special rounds , where cutoffs sometimes go higher. Also, if the college has any state quota or management quota options , it's worth exploring them separately. Keep checking the official CSAB website and the college’s admission notices.
Hello Vishal,
With 70 percentile in JEE Mains and OBC category, your approximate CRL rank would be around 2.5 to 3 lakh , and your OBC rank might fall between 80,000 to 1,00,000 (this can vary slightly). Based on this, getting admission into top NITs, IIITs, or GFTIs for core branches like CSE or ECE is difficult, but you still have some decent options: You can prefer the following types of colleges:
State Government Engineering Colleges
Many states like Rajasthan, Maharashtra, MP, UP, and Haryana accept JEE Main scores for their counselling (like MP DTE, Haryana HSTES, etc.). You have better chances in your home state quota .
Private Colleges with Good Reputation
Consider reputed private universities that accept JEE scores:
VIT (though it conducts VITEEE)
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham
SRM Institute of Science and Technology
Shiv Nadar University
UPES Dehradun
LNCT Bhopal
Galgotias University
Colleges under CSAB Special Round
Participate in CSAB special round after JoSAA; sometimes lower-rank students get seats in GFTIs or lesser-known NIT branches (like Civil, Metallurgy, or Biotechnology).
State-Level Counselling Based on JEE Score
If your state accepts JEE score for B.Tech admissions, you may get a seat in a government college using your category rank . Tips:
Choose colleges where you get a full-time B.Tech degree and decent placement records.
Consider branches other than CSE if you're open to other options like Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, etc.
Be ready to appear for spot rounds or management quota seats in private colleges if needed.
I would recommend you to use the JEE Mains College Predictor Tool by Careers360 to get the list of possible colleges you can get with your rank.
I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries, feel free to share your questions with us, and we will be happy to assist you.
Thank you, and I wish you all the best in your bright future.
Scoring 66 percentile in JEE Mains means you are eligible for some private and state-level engineering colleges in Uttar Pradesh (UP), but admission to top government colleges like NITs, IIITs, or top state engineering colleges may be difficult.
Here are some options where you might get admission based on your percentile:
SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ghaziabad
KIET Group of Institutions, Ghaziabad
JSS Academy of Technical Education, Noida
Galgotias College of Engineering & Technology, Greater Noida
IMS Engineering College, Ghaziabad
Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College, Ghaziabad (AKGEC)
Harcourt Butler Technical University (HBTU) Kanpur (if seats remain vacant)
Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) affiliated colleges (Many private colleges under AKTU accept lower percentiles)
Dear Candidate , Your cousin , with 93 % in Tamil Nadu state Board and a 51 percentile in JEE Main , has a a fair chance of getting admission to the ECE branch at SASTRA university under stream 2 . Stream 2 admissions are based solely on class 12 board marks , and since she has a strong academic percentage, she stands a reasonable chance , especially for ECE , which is generally slightly less competitive than CSE . While stream 1 is more competitive due to inclusion of JEE scores , her JEE percentile is not high enough to secure admission through that route .
With a JEE Main rank of ~1,85,000, getting Civil Engineering at IET DAVV Indore is unlikely for General and OBC categories, as the 2024 cutoff was around 1.57 lakh.
However, SC/ST category candidates have a good chance, since their cutoffs go beyond your rank.
Next steps:
Apply through MP DTE counselling
Consider other MP colleges or branches with higher cutoffs like Mechanical or IT.
JEE Main rank of ~1,85,000 , your chances of getting Civil Engineering at DAVV Indore depend on:
JEE Main-based admissions (through MP Counselling ) for affiliated colleges like:
Institute of Engineering & Technology (IET-DAVV) – Top govt. college (higher cutoff).
Other DAVV-affiliated private colleges (lower cutoff).
Apply for MP Counselling (DTE MP)
Dear Candidate , To qualify for JEE Main 2025 and become eligible for JEE Advanced , candidates must achieve a minimum percentile score set by the NTA , which varies by category . For the General ( UR ) category , the cutoff is 93.1023262 percentile , while for EWS and OBC - NCL categories, it is 80.3830119 and 79.4313482 respectively . SC and ST category candidates need at least 61.1526933 and 47.9026465 percentiles , and for PwD candidates , the minimum is 0.0018700 percentile . These are not raw marks but normalized percentile scores , as the exam is held in multiple sessions with varying difficulty levels .
