Akansha Sharma 2nd Jun, 2025

Yes, you can join IIT after JEE Advanced if you meet the minimum eligibility criteria for 12th marks. Your 1st-year marks are 89% and 2nd-year marks are 74.83%, which average around 80.9%, so you meet the eligibility. sir i want to pursue m tech in mit but i also want to pursue b tech in iit bombay i got 98.67 in jee mains 2025(i will get EEE/ECE in nit surathkal) but i will not get iit should i take a drop year to prepare for jee advance 2026?

gopi 31st May, 2025

Hello Bhuvan,

This is a personal decision based on a few important components:

  1. Goal Clarity: If IIT Bombay is your dream school and you feel you can prepare for the next iteration of JEE Advanced, dropping a year to study for JEE Advanced is a reasonable option. A dedicated and focused drop year has helped many students achieve great scores on JEE Advanced, and the top ranks.
  2. Current Opportunity: NIT Surathkal is one of the top NITs with opportunities for excellent placements, research opportunities, and the opportunity for interactions with top companies - especially for ECE/EEE. After that, with good academics, you can potentially earn your way into top M.Tech programs like MIT, Stanford, or IITs via GATE or GRE.
  3. Risk vs Reward: Dropping a year has a risk component: mental and academic risk. Think about whether you can handle that level of pressure and if your performance at JEE Advanced can improve with one more year of preparation.
  4. Ambition for MIT M.Tech: For M.Tech, you don't need an IIT degree to get into MIT. Strong research and projects, GRE scores, and thoughtful and compelling YES at SOP matter more than an IIT degree. Many students from top NITs get into MIT and other institutions throughout the world.

i cleared through my jeemains paper 2(barch) and i plan on giving jee advanced, what are the topics that are likely to be asked and how can i prepare for it, is both the question and syllabus same for btech and barch students in jee adv?

kumardurgesh1802 24th May, 2025

Hello there,

For JEE Advanced, the syllabus for B.Tech and B.Arch students is largely the same in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, but B.Arch candidates also have an additional section on Aptitude and Drawing.

Topics likely to be asked:

  • Physics: Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, Optics, Modern Physics, Thermodynamics

  • Chemistry: Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry

  • Mathematics: Algebra, Calculus, Coordinate Geometry, Trigonometry, Vector and 3D Geometry

  • Aptitude (for B.Arch): Visualization skills, 3D perception, Architectural awareness

  • Drawing (for B.Arch): Drawing and sketching related to architecture and building forms

Preparation tips:

  1. Master NCERT textbooks thoroughly as a base.

  2. Solve previous years’ JEE Advanced papers and mock tests.

  3. Focus on problem-solving speed and accuracy.

  4. For B.Arch, practice drawing and aptitude tests regularly.

  5. Time management and conceptual clarity are key.

  6. Join coaching or online courses if needed, especially for drawing and aptitude.

In summary, the core syllabus for Physics, Chemistry, and Maths is the same for both B.Tech and B.Arch, but B.Arch has additional Aptitude and Drawing sections in JEE Advanced. Prepare accordingly.

I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries, feel free to share your questions with us, and we will be happy to assist you.

Thank you, and I wish you all the best in your bright future.

Akansha Sharma 2nd Jun, 2025

Congrats on scoring 103 marks in JEE Advanced! For OBC category, getting a Computer Science (CS) seat in IIT with 103 marks is tough because CS is very competitive. Usually, top ranks are needed for CS. But you might get a chance in newer IITs or other branches related to CS like Electrical or IT in some IITs. hello... is jee advance 2025 tougher than 2022? i am sc category and my expected marks in advance is 41 marks... what is my category rank and which was tougher 2022 or 2025?

Akansha Sharma 23rd May, 2025

Hello! It’s hard to say exactly if JEE Advanced 2025 will be tougher than 2022, but usually the difficulty varies every year. If you expect to score around 41 marks in JEE Advanced and you belong to the SC category, your category rank might be around 8,000 to 12,000 based on past trends. The 2022 paper was considered moderately tough. Focus on doing your best, prepare well, and don’t worry too much about which year was harder.
