Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research Aptitude Test
All IISERs conduct a viva/interview for the integrated PhD programs, a written examination is very rare and that too for chemistry, moreover it is not predecided and totally depends on the number of applications that an institute recieves and the number of positions/seats available. You can apply to desired IISERs pan India and then can contact them individually for further details. Good Luck!
Hello Pradeep,
After graduating from IISER,the person has a MS degree from a prestigious institute in India and pretty much all fundamental skills to take up any profession that one likes.Although IISERs focus to train their students for a career in scientific research but life at IISERs provides you a wide prespective of all life spheres and provides every opportunity to explore a new field on your own.Coming to future prospects after graduating from IISERs:
1)IISER students are readily accepted as PhD students in the best research institutes in India and abroad, provided they have developed the right scientific aptitude. Therefore,if one aims to have a career in science ,especially academia or R&D sections of industries IISERs are the place to be.
2) One can take up a career path of a science communicator. If a student has an aptitude for scientific writing and likes explaining science in simple words to the masses, one can join one or two year long masters programs in science communication after MS and plunge into an interesting career of science journalism.
3)MS students from IISERs have been successful in getting admitted to IIMs, FMS ,IMI and so on. So many pursue MBA also.
4)Off campus placements is always an open door.Companies like Biocon, Deloitte,Mu Sigma,Shell and many more have hired IISER graduates for their skills like data analytics and hands on experience of scientific research.Coaching institutes like Aakash and FIIT-JEE hire IISER graduates as faculty.
5)Placement cells would hopefully be coming up soon in most of the IISERs and then it would be easier to get a job after MS at IISERs.
Lastly, I would like to add that there are many doors for an IISER graduate to knock on and get into with not much difficulty. There is a great need to identify his or her interests early on and acquire the skill set along with a MS degree to enter the door :)

Give me a chance to make it clear, that Central Universities are a not Usefull. Indeed, CRAP, total CRAP. Don`t join these focal colleges. But a couple, similar to Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University and so on., rest all are simply made for defilement. Gone are the days, when Central Universities, had an awesome name. Today, they are nothing.
The Central Universities, built up in 2009, are the most exceedingly bad in the nation. They, are simply places for profiting by the authorities. Instructors, Labs, and even essential pleasantries, are truant in these colleges.
The old focal colleges, as DU, HCU, BHU, and so forth., are a bit alright, however are awful in arrangements and so forth. Personnel in these old focal colleges, are a bit alright, yet, they linger behind
My recommendation is, Don`t join these focal colleges, particularly the ones built up in 2009. Go along with them, just in the event that they are your last choice.
Before joining any college, or montage, do check its NAAC SELF STUDY
hope i made good for your query !!
All the best!!:)
Hello Shubham Sahu,
There are very less chances that you will get admission in IITs for M.Sc.in Chemistry.
but you can get IISERs for M.Sc. Previous Year, Closing rank for M.Sc.in Chemistry in OBC Category was AIR 839 for IIT Jodhpur. Since IISERs are second priority for candidates. So you can expect admission in IISER.
Good Luck.
Hi there.
If you are having your 12th board exams this year i.e., you are already done with them or are currently taking your exams or will be taking them in this month itself (which means you are going to be 2018 passed out student, EVEN IF YOU ARE A 2017 PASSED OUT STUDENT); you are definitely eligible for the IISER examination this year in July irrespective of the mains and advance qualification. However, you should score at least 55% (be sure to refer to the current cut-off percentage)in the results of your board exams for further proceedings if you qualify the IISER.
All the best!
Hi Ambika,
Exam is on 24th June 2018.
For more info about IISER have a glance at below link

IISER would be a very good option if you are interested in pure sciences and I really think if you want BS you need not go abroad. IISER and IISC would be really good. Though you can go for PhD in any good country you like. As for the preparation, jee advanced preparation would be great as you will have enough time to prepare for it and might get iiser is you rank within 10,000. However, if you do choose to prepare only for jee main, you might get iisc bangalore (at a very high score though) and engineering as well.
Also, for iiser there are two more ways of getting in-
Hope you decide what's best for you!
All the best for the future!
It varies year to year. Also it depends on number of candidates opting for IISER as their first choice.
