My gate score is 396 and rank is 14950 my paper was Computer science and Information Technology which college will i get for doing Mtech

sadafreen356 21st Mar, 2025

With a GATE score of 396 and a rank of 14950 in Computer Science and Information Technology, you have a decent chance of getting into some good colleges for M.Tech.

Here are a few options to consider:

- NITs: You can try for NITs like NIT Warangal, NIT Trichy, or NIT Surathkal. While the cutoffs for these colleges can be quite high, your rank might be competitive for some of the less popular specializations.

- Central Universities: Central universities like the University of Hyderabad (UoH) or Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) might also be a good fit. These universities often have a more relaxed cutoff compared to the top NITs.

- Other options You can also consider other colleges like COE Pune, VJIT Mumbai, or IIITs like IIIT Allahabad or IIITDM Kancheepuram.

Keep in mind that the cutoffs for M.Tech admissions can vary greatly depending on the college, specialization, and category. It's essential to check the specific cutoffs for each college and specialization you're interested in.

To get a better idea of your chances, I recommend using a GATE college predictor tool. These tools can help you estimate your chances of getting into a particular college based on your score and rank.

My GATE score is 255 from CS branch. Im from SC category. what can I expect?

Prachi Kumari 21st Mar, 2025

Hello,

With a GATE score of 255 in Computer Science (CS) and belonging to the SC category, securing admission to top IITs may be challenging, as their cutoffs are generally higher.

With a score of 255, your options might include:

  • State Government Engineering Colleges: Many state-level institutions have varying cutoff scores and may offer M.Tech admissions with your GATE score.

  • Private Engineering Colleges: Some private institutions accept GATE scores for their postgraduate programs and might have more flexible admission criteria.

  • Self-Financed Programs: Certain universities offer self-financed M.Tech programs where the competition might be less intense.

Hope it helps !

sir mera gate score- 480 rank 2998 marks - 36 catagory obc ncl subject -EE ish main iit / nit / kuch job mil sakta hai abhi main third year main hu next year ish rank se admission le sakta hu kya abhi kuch from fill karna hai kya sir please reply me i dont know about next procrdure

Prachi Kumari 21st Mar, 2025

Hello,

With a GATE score of 480 , rank 2998 , and OBC-NCL category in EE , you have chances in some NITs, IIITs, and good state government colleges for M.Tech. Getting into IITs might be difficult, but newer or lower-ranked IITs may consider you in some interdisciplinary branches.

For jobs , some PSUs recruit through GATE , but for top PSUs, your score might be low. You can still apply for state government jobs, private companies, and research fellowships that accept GATE scores.

Since you are in third year , your score will be valid for next year also. You don’t need to apply for admission this year. In your final year (next year), you need to apply for COAP (for IITs) and CCMT (for NITs, IIITs, etc.) .

Right now, no forms are required . Just focus on improving your score if you want better IITs or PSUs next year.

Hope it helps !

my gate 2025 result is witheld due to defects rectification that I didnt do in time and was unaware of any mail after I got the admit card. I have mailed this issue of mine to helpdesk gate IITROORKEE but there is no reply from the the institute till now. What should I do to get my results.

sadafreen356 5th Apr, 2025

Since the GATE 2025 defect rectification period has passed, and your result is withheld, you should contact the GATE Helpdesk at IIT Roorkee again, this time by phone, and also explore other official channels like social media or the GATE website for any updates or alternative solutions.

Here's a more detailed breakdown of your options:

  • Reiterate your issue with the Helpdesk:

Phone Call: Try calling the GATE Helpdesk at IIT Roorkee directly, as email replies might be delayed.

Follow-up Email: Send another email to the helpdesk, mentioning that you haven't received a response to your previous email and reiterate your situation.

Mention the deadline: Remind them that the defect rectification period has passed and that you were unaware of the issue.

  • Explore other official channels:

Social Media: Check the official GATE or IIT Roorkee social media accounts for any announcements or updates regarding withheld results.

GATE Website: Regularly visit the official GATE website (gate2025.iitr.ac.in) for any notifications or FAQs related to defect rectification and withheld results.

  • Gather evidence:

Keep copies of all your emails, including the one you sent to the helpdesk, and any other relevant documents.

If you have any proof that you were unaware of the defect rectification period, gather that as well.

  • Be patient and persistent:

It may take some time for the authorities to respond to your queries, so be patient and persistent in your follow-up.

Do not hesitate to contact them again if you don't receive a response within a reasonable timeframe.

I have decided to do my masters in biotech from germany i had a question that along with ielts and german proficiency test do we have to also give gate or gre test

Prachi Kumari 20th Mar, 2025

Hello,

It depends on the university you are applying to. Most German universities do not require GATE for admission to a Master's in Biotechnology. However, some universities may ask for the GRE , especially if you are applying to a highly competitive program.

You should check the specific admission requirements of the universities you are interested in. Generally, having IELTS (or TOEFL) and a German language proficiency certificate (if the course is in German) is enough.

Hope it helps !
