Sir i passed 12th (2023) in pcb in up board but i want do b tech in iit bombay through jee advanced can i do direct 12th in pcm in(2024) and can i eligible for iit jee

Akansha Sharma 2nd Jun, 2025

If you passed 12th in PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) in 2023, you need to study PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Math) to be eligible for BTech in IIT Bombay through JEE Advanced. You can join 12th again with PCM subjects in 2024 and appear for JEE Main and Advanced after passing. This way, you become eligible because math is compulsory for engineering. So yes, you can do 12th again with PCM and then try for IIT through JEE. Keep working hard!

Hi

hope you doing well

Build strong fundamentals in Maths, Physics, and Chemistry from your 10th-grade syllabus.Develop problem-solving skills and time management through regular practice.

Start with Basic Books:

  • Mathematics: R.D. Sharma (10th & 11th edition)
  • Physics: NCERT Class 10 + “Concepts of Physics” by H.C. Verma (Vol 1 & 2 for later stages)
  • Chemistry: NCERT 10th + Foundation series by O.P. Tandon (for chemistry basics)

If possible, join a JEE coaching program from the beginning of Class 11 for structured learning.

In class 11, your preparation should shift to advanced topics aligned with the JEE syllabus.Stick to NCERT books as the base for all three subjects, especially Chemistry.

Mathematics:

  • R.D. Sharma (for conceptual clarity and board exams)
  • Cengage Mathematics (for problem-solving skills)
  • I.A. Maron (for Calculus)

Physics:

  • H.C. Verma (Concept building)
  • **DC Pandey

Firstly focus on your current class slybus and simultaneously do coaching of Jee which will maintain your jee course preparation.

For Jee mains eligibility criteria you must 75% or above in 12th boards so keep that in mind.

hope you got it and find this information useful

Best wishes.

  • First of all, it’s great that you are preparing seriously for JEE despite the challenges. Don’t lose hope. Many students take alternative routes and still reach top institutions.

  • Regarding your eligibility for JEE Advanced, the key rule to understand is this: A student is allowed to appear for JEE Advanced in the same year or the following year of passing Class 12 or equivalent examination .

  • Since you are giving your 12th board exams in 2024, this will be considered your first attempt year . So, if you clear JEE Main 2024 and qualify for JEE Advanced, you are eligible to write JEE Advanced in 2024 .

  • You’ll also be eligible for a second attempt in 2025 , but not beyond that, as per the current rules.

  • One important point is that you must meet all other eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced, such as:

    • Being among the top 2.5 lakh candidates in JEE Main

    • Not having taken JEE Advanced more than twice

    • Not having accepted admission in an IIT in the past

  • Make sure you have all the correct documents, including your 10th and 12th certificates when results are declared.

  • Keep checking the official JEE Advanced website or brochure once it’s released, to confirm any changes in rules.

only paper 1 is for IIT jee engineering not paper 2 I am right

Satvik 18th Oct, 2024

Hi

hope you doing well

Yes, you can appear for both Paper 1 (B.Tech) and Paper 2 (B.Arch or B.Planning, each serving a distinct purpose. You can choose to appear for either one or both, depending on your course preferences.

Paper 1:

  • Purpose: For admission to B.E./B.Tech programs in NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, and other engineering colleges.
  • Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  • Mode: Computer-based test (CBT).

Paper 2:

This paper is further divided into two parts :

  • Paper 2A – For B.Arch (Bachelor of Architecture).
  • Paper 2B – For B.Planning (Bachelor of Planning).

Each paper requires a separate registration during the application process. Since if you are aiming for a change from B.Planning to B.Tech or vice versa, it’s important to confirm if both were registered during your application.

hope you get it and find this info suitable

Best Wishes.

Devyani Prakash 21st Feb, 2024

Hello student,

If you've forgotten your application number, you can try the following:

1. Check it on your previous emails (confirmation email NTA sends when you'd first registered)

2. Check it on your admit card

3. On the NTA portal, there's a tab "forgot application number". Click on that, and you'll be asked to enter your credentials and do a short verification, before you get it via email

If you need information regarding which colleges you would be eligible for based on your marks and details, then you can refer to the Careers360 JEE Main College Predictor: https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-college-predictor?
