Hello student,
As you have mentioned that you have PCM in your class 12. So you can definitely apply for IISER. As the criteria for IISER is that the candidate should be from the science background. The candidate can enter through three sources. First is JEE then KVPY and the last is SCB. So, you can prepare from this perspective.
All the best!
Hey!
If you are biology study then you can only attempt PCB or if you are maths student then you can opt PCM, there is no compulsion to attempt both. However, the total marks would be given by 180, which includes both mathematics and biology, means if you attempt both then you will hav a good rank.
Hope I answered your query.
Thank you
No as per the IISER eligibility criteria, you need to give IISER aptitude test with all the four subjects that is Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. There will be 15 questions from each sections. 3 positive marks for each correct answer and negative marking of -1 for each wrong answer so you can try to choose wisely if you are a PCM student.
Refer to the link below for more detailed information about the same...

Best wishes. Thank you.
There is no specified syllabus prescribed for General Ability section. According to the syllabus mentioned in the official website, his section might consist random questions from History, Mathematics, Geograph, Science, English, General Knowledge and Current Affairs. For Mathematics, you need to concentrate on: Numbers, HCF and LCM of Numbers, Decimal Fractions, Square Roots and Cube Roots, Average, Problems on Ages, Percentage, Profit and Loss, Ratio and Proportion, Time and Work, Pipes and Cistern, Time and Distance, Problems on Trains, Boats and Streams, Alligation, Simple and Compound Interest, Logarithms, Area, Volume and Surface areas, Calendar, Clocks, Permutation and Combinations, Probability, Reasoning, Sitting Arrangements, Blood relations and Data Interpretation at Class 10 level. So you can stick with NCERT for this.
In English section, command on your English, Grammar, Vocabulary, Understanding of the given paragraph are of more importance. Reading English NewsPaper will also help you in your preparation.
Word Power Made Easy (by Norman Lewis) This is the go-to book to improve your vocabulary. It is not a book to be read but a book to work with daily to enrich your vocabulary. High School Grammar and Composition( by Wren and Martin) It is a very good book for people who want to improve their grammar skills. It helps to understand and conceptualise different aspects of grammar and it is a must have book for anyone with poor grasp on verbal ability or who wants to make up with the basics of english.
For other topics, you can refer to NEST exam guide. News papers, Manorama Year book should help you for this section.
Hi,
For Physics and Chemistry, you can study NCERT class 11 and class 12 books. For reference you can use H.C Verma book (Concept of Physics Volume I and II) for Physics and for chemistry you can use Morrison and Boyd book(Organic Chemistry), O.P Tandon book (Inorganic Chemistry for IIT JEE). For Mathematics you can use Tata McGraw Hill' s book
I hope it helps.
Srijit, if you look at the IISER Aptitude syllabus, it is based on your 12th subjects. You can check the complete syllabus at the official website: http://www.iiseradmission.in/index.php/pages/syllabus . Now we do not have any Coaching for IISER per se but we do have coaching for JEE Mains and NEET. The syllabus is the same for these 3 subjects. But the exam pattern, marking and weightage vary. The preparation also remains the same. So if it interests you, you can check the relevant knockout packages between JEE Mains and NEET: https://learn.careers360.com/knockout-neet-may/ and https://learn.careers360.com/knockout-jee-main-april/ . Because we cannot authenticate 3rd party websites for you, this is the best we can help you with.
