The government of Andhra Pradesh has successfully signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Veltech Dr RR & Dr SR University. The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu and Mr K.V.D. Kishore Kumar, Vice President, Veltech Dr RR & Dr SR University exchanged the MoU during the Partnership Summit 2017 for developing e-Bicycle with Francecol, France.
This event was carried out successfully after the students of the University in collaboration with Francecol Technology Company, based in France, developed a new electric bicycle. The students have created an embedded wheel drive e-bicycle which, as the University claims, is the first of its kind in the existing category of bicycles.
The e-bicycle, which seems like any ordinary bicycle, has a specially designed wheel drive which can turn any ordinary bicycle into an e-bicycle. The students of Veltech University have developed the power drive which is an embedded control system that works on inverter technology. The drive will convert the direct current from the battery into three phase current while driving on the bicycle. The wheel drive is also enabled with Bluetooth technology so that it can be tracked easily and can be used for rental services.
According to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Veltech University, Dr. U. Chandra Shekar, the idea is to promote the pollution free transport in the smart cities. The cost of the e-bicycle will be about Rs. 10,000 and can run 60 km with the support of 500 watts power.
A presentation was successfully conducted in front of the Chief Minister, Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu following which an MoU was signed between the two parties for the development of this project.
