Q: The major feedback that is passed about the JEE Main 2013 exam is that the paper was very easy. What is your view?
A: I won’t say the paper was too easy. I found it to be a balanced paper in terms of difficulty level. Not too easy not too tough. The questions were easily doable for students who are well prepared. Those who were extremely well prepared, they might have found the questions below par according to their preparation. The syllabus has been properly covered with at least one question from all the topics and chapters.
Q: Has the JEE Main 2013 paper followed the trends of the past year’s exam?
A: Yes, the types of questions were similar and the overall structure and pattern were the same. However, the difficulty level was easier than last year.
Q: What is the expected JEE Main 2013 cut off according to you?
A: I think it should be around 150.
Q: Out of the total number of 90 questions, how many questions should a candidate attempt to clear the cut off?
A: If a candidate attempts at least 50 questions accurately, there is a possibility that the candidate will clear the cut off and be selected for the JEE Advanced paper.
Q: What should be the focus of the students who have taken the JEE Main 2013 exam on Sunday, April 7, 2013?
A: If you have a score of 150 and above, get set for writing the JEE Advance paper, which is a step closer to the IITs and NITs. Though the sections would remain the same, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, the questions would be definitely more difficult. Practice a lot, take mock tests and ensure that you improve your accuracy level so that you don’t lose your marks on negative marking.
Q: What is your recommendation to the online JEE Main 2013 takers which will be conducted from April 9 to 25, 2013?
A: Apart from regular preparation, you should be careful about the questions you attempt. It is not mandatory to attempt all the questions. If you find certain questions difficult and uncomfortable, keep moving to the next. Keep calm and score well.
