The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that the offline (pen-paper) mode of JEE Main 2018 exam will be conducted on April 8, 2018. The JEE Main 2018 is conducted in online mode as well, but the dates for the online mode have not been declared yet. A national-level exam, JEE Main is conducted every year as a screening test for admission to the IITs. Additionally, scores of JEE Main are used for admission to UG engineering programmes offered by institutes like NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and a host of other institutes.

The application form for JEE Main 2018 is expected to open around the 1st week of December 2017. Candidates must note that to be eligible for JEE Main 2018, they need to meet a number of eligibility criteria including that of age limit, year of passing qualifying exam, and number of attempts made. Another thing to note is the participating institutes of JEE Main 2018 may have their own admission criteria; for example both the IITs and NITs require that candidates score minimum of 75% marks ( 65% in case of SC, ST, PwD) to be considered for admission.

The JEE Main entrance exam is attempted by over 12 lakh candidates every year
The entrance exam is conducted in both online (computer-based) and offline mode
More number of candidates opt for the offline test compared to the CBT test.
Since the academic year 2017-2018, Aadhaar Cards have been made mandatory for filling the JEE Main application form.
As per the JEE Main exam pattern 2018, the exam will be conducted for two papers – Paper I and Paper II.
Paper I will be admission to B.Tech courses. B.Arch candidates, in addition to Paper I, will have to appear in Paper II as well.
The JEE Main 2018 is likely to be conducted in more than 100 cities across India. The exam will also have test centres outside India in cities like Colombo and Dhaka.
