JEE Main 2017 Result to be announced anytime today!

CBSE may announce the JEE Main 2017 Result anytime today. The result for the largest UG entrance exam held in the offline mode on April 2 and online on April 8 & 9, 2017 is scheduled to be announced today i.e. April 27, 2017. CBSE has not specified any specific time for the announcement of the JEE Main 2017 Result for Paper 1 which is eagerly awaited by 1,198,989 candidates who have appeared for the exam. This year, the wait is more special as the JEE Main All India Ranks will also be announced along with the scores of the candidates. The normalization process which was in existence till 2016 has been done away with and the ranks will now be computed on the basis of the actual marks scored by the candidates in the entrance test.

Importance of JEE Main 2017 Result:

• Candidates aspiring for admissions to the 24,323 engineering seats offered by the 31 NITs, 20 IIITs and 18 GFTIs must have qualified in the JEE Main 2017 with good scores and All India Ranks.

• The JEE Advanced qualifying cutoff will also be announced. The top 2,20,000 candidates who have a positive JEE Main score equal or above the specified cutoff will be eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced 2017 for admissions to 10,572 engineering seats offered by 22 IITs as well as ISM which is now IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.

• This year the All India and Category ranks of the candidates will also be announced along with the result of JEE Main 2017 of Paper 1.

• Candidates will also be able to download their JEE Main Rank Cards.

Calculation of the JEE Main Score and Rank:

The JEE main score will be calculated as per the marking scheme announced by CBSE. There is negative marking for every wrong answer so the scores will be calculated as below

JEE Main score = No of correct answers x 4 – No of wrong answers x 1

The ranks will be awarded as per the highest marks scored by the candidates. The higher the marks, the higher the rank in JEE Main. For candidates who score the same marks, the inter-se-merit guidelines will be utilized to resolve the tie.

What after JEE Main 2017 Result?

• Candidates who have scored marks equal to or above the JEE Advanced qualifying cutoff should apply for JEE Advanced 2017 from April 28.

• Others can wait for the JoSAA counselling that will start tentatively in June, 2017.

• Candidates belonging to states like Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttrakhand, Nagaland, Odisha can apply for their state counselling respectively as soon as they are available. JAC Delhi as well as JAC Chandigarh, PTU B.Tech admissions are also based on JEE Main 2017 scores.

• In addition, private universities like the DAIICT, Nirma University, Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University etc are some that offer admissions on the basis of the JEE Main scores of the candidates.
