The organising committee for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2018, IIT Kanpur has increased the number of candidates who would be able to sit in JEE Advanced exam in 2018. The number of students who will qualify to sit in JEE Advanced exam next year has been increased to 2,24,000 from 2,20,000 including all categories. Consequently, 4000 more students would be appearing in JEE Advanced which is a good news for engineering aspirants, but at the same time it also indicates that the level of competition will be become tougher.

JEE Advanced 2018 will be the gateway for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and ISM (IIT) Dhanbad that will be conducted by the seven zonal coordinating (ZC) IITs under the guidance of Joint Admission Board (JAB). It is the second stage test of IIT JEE Main for admissions to B.Tech programmes across 23 IITs.

In order to sit in the JEE Advanced exam, a candidate first has to appear in the JEE Main examination and a certain portion of these candidates will qualify for JEE Advanced exam. The registrations for JEE Advanced 2018 will tentatively begin from the last week of April last till the first week of May 2018.
JEE Advanced 2018 will be held on May 20, 2018. Unlike last time when JEE Advanced was pen and paper based, JEE Advanced 2018 will be completely online, that is, the exam will now be fully computer based. The exam which will consist of two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2 which will be of three hours' duration each and will be held in two sessions. For admission, candidates have to appear in both the papers.
The admit card of JEE Advanced 2018 will be tentatively available from the second week of May next year in online mode. Only registered candidates, those who have successfully filled in the application form within the time frame will be able to download their JEE Advanced 2018 admit card.
Talking about the JEE Advanced 2018 exam centres, it includes the cities and towns in India where candidates will be able to write the test. Apart from the test centres in India, JEE Advanced will also be held outside India. JEE Advanced 2017 was conducted across 115 cities in India and 6 cities in different countries outside India.

JEE Main and JEE Advanced are 2 examination to get admission in various prestigious engineering colleges in India.
Coming to jee main, from 2019 onwards jee main is conducted by NTA twice in a year in January and April. It consist of 2 papers. Paper 1 is held for BE / B.Tech admissions and Paper for B.Arch / B.Planning. JEE Main is a critical criterion for admission in India’s most prestigious and elite universities like the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IITs) and the National Institute of Technology (NIT).
You can take jee main once( i.e in jan or april ) or both. Best of the two percentile will be considered for evaluation. The candidates qualifying the cutoff marks will be eligible for JEE Advanced.
JEE Advanced is conducted once every year in the month of May for admissions in IITs all over India. It is conducted by an IIT which changes every year. It consist of 2 papers:Paper1 and Paper 2 to be conducted in 2 shifts. The students who qualify the exams are considered for admissions into IITs.

The candidates who want to give Joint entrance examination should have passed 10+2 level or any equivalent exam and are eligible to write Joint entrance examination for 2 years. For example for year 2020 joint entrance examination the candidates who have passed 10+2 level or any equivalent exam in the year 2018 and 2019 are eligible to give the exam.
