Hindustan University clebrates 8th convocation

Hindustan University clebrates 8th convocation Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science (Hindustan University) held its 8th convocation at the University premises at Padur. In the convocation ceremony, 979 UG candidates, 214 PG candidates and 25 Ph.D candidates recieved their degrees from the Chancellor, Dr. Elizabeth Verghese.

During the ceremory, Hindustan University’s Vice Chancellor, Dr. S. Ramachandran informed that HITS has been rated 3 stars by the international rankings organization Quacquarelli Symonds QS. Not only this, HITS scored 5 stars in teaching, employability, facilities, innovation and inclusiveness and an overall rating of 3 starts ratings.

 

The Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science (HITS) offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Research and Doctoral Programmes. It has partnered with prominent automobile companies like Volkswagen, Hyundai and Toyota and established training centres in campus to promote industry institute partnerships.

 

Speaking on the occassion, Dr. S. Ramachandran said, “There has been a marked improvement and significant increase in all the domains of academics which was possible because of the commitment of our faculty, staff and students alike and able guidance and encouragement by the management.”

 

Dr. S. Ramachandran further informed that National Board of Accreditation (NBA) accredited the B.Tech Aeronautical Engineering Programme.

 

Dr. S.Christopher, Secretary, Department of Defence (R&D) & Chairman, DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organization) was presented the award of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa).

 

While addresing the gathering, India's ace Formula One driver and Padmashri awardee, Narain Karthikeyan said these kind of recognitions will be an inspiration for students. He advised the students to be focused and step out of their comfort zone to achieve greater heights in their life.

 

Speaking on the same lines, Dr. S.Christopher, Chief Guest of the ceremony reminded students the importance of developing a professional culture in respective arenas and told them that “actions speak louder than words”. He urged the students to be innovative and productive in their field of expertise.

 

Highlighting the importance of research in engineering education, Dr. Elizabeth Verghese suggested that the graduates should develop emotional strength to face the challenges of life and also insisted that they should work for the welfare of the nation.

 

The convocation was declared open by the Chancellor, which was followed by a welcome address and report presented by the Vice Chancellor (VC), Dr. S. Ramachandran. Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Pro Chancellor, Mr. Ashok Verghese and Dr. Aby Sam, Directors, Dr. Pon. Ramalingam, Registrar, Deputy Directors, Deans, HOD’s, BOM members, Faculty and students participated in the ceremony.
