ACPC to conduct GUJCET 2017

ACPC to conduct GUJCET 2017Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC), Gujarat has declared that it will conduct its own examination - GUJCET 2017 for admissions to undergraduate engineering programmes across the state engineering colleges. As per ACPC officials, “The state Government has decided to grant admission through ACPC in Degree Engineering, Degree/Diploma Pharmacy in Government, Grant in aid and self-finance institutes in the state by considering GUJCET as Common entrance Test instead of JEE-Main examination from admission year 2017.”

This means that Admissions to B.E./B.Tech programmes available across the engineering colleges in Gujarat will be offered through GUJCET 2017. Till 2016, the state engineering colleges of Gujarat would offer B.Tech/B.E. admissions through JEE Main score. Though ACPC has announced GUJCET 2017, admissions to undergraduate engineering programmes across Gujarat state engineering colleges will also be offered through JEE Main 2017. However, the introduction of GUJCET 2017 may result in a dip in JEE Main registrations from the state.

In this context of conducting GUJCET 2017, the state government has also published government resolution on November 19.

Important provisions of the government resolution are:

1. The said resolution incorporates result of GUJCET examination only, as common entrance test

result in preparation of merit list for admission carried out by this committee to Degree

Engineering and Degree/Diploma Pharmacy after Standard XII Science in Government, Grant in aid and self finance institutes in the state for Government quota Seats and Management Quota

seats from academic year 2017 onwards.

2. In case of Special provisions in certain Institutes/Universities as per prevailing notification of

filling 50% seats by this committee in Degree Engineering after Standard XII Science, the result obtained in GUJCET examination will be considered for calculation of merit.

3. However, for 50% seats to be filled under All India basis as stated in above special provision to

certain Institutes/universities, the result of JEE Main shall be considered for calculation of merit.

4. Candidates aspiring for admission to centrally funded institutes such as IITs, NITs, IIITs and other such institutes of other states, will have to appear for JEE Main examination.
