Mode of Counselling:
The counselling and admission process of GATE is done by COAP (for IIT Admission) and CCMT (for NITs, IIITs and other participating institutes). IIT Delhi is only responsible for conducting the exam, it will not conduct any common counselling for GATE 2020. The candidate instead will have to apply separately for admission to M.Tech courses offered by various institutes based on GATE scores and ranks. In case the candidate wants to take admission in an IIT, he/ she will have to register on COAP, and also apply separately to the specific IIT. All offers made by participating institutes will be uploaded in the COAP portal; registered candidates in turn can accept or reject offers on the portal. For admission to NITs, counselling is commonly done through CCMT.
What is GATE COAP 2020?
The GATE Common Offer Acceptance (COAP) was started in 2017 by the IITs as a common admission platform for making admission offers to candidates. So, while the candidate still needs to apply to an IIT individually for admission, he/she will only know about any offers by registering on the COAP portal. Also, the acceptance or rejection of offers can be made only through COAP.
Admission to IITs is a two-step process:
Register on COAP to view, accept or reject admission offers. Based on the applications received by the IITs, they will make all the offers on COAP portal.
Note: IIT COAP is not an application portal, but instead an admission portal.
Admissions to the postgraduate programmes will be through CCMT which is the Centralized Counselling for M.Tech/ M.Arch/ M.Plan admissions at the NITs, and other GFTIs. Candidates have to fill the application form on CCMT to be conducted by one of the NITs, fill their choices of courses and institutes and after the seat is allotted on the basis of their GATE score, they must complete admission formalities if they accept the seat.
Candidates can download the admit card from the official portal of GATE 2020 from January 3. Students have to login to GOAPS portal to download their admit card. GATE admit card will be available in online mode only and will not be sent to candidates by post or any other means.
Candidates can challenge the GATE answer key online through GOAPS portal from February 19 to 21.
Students can check the answer key from GATE official website or can download the answer key of all 25 subjects from here
cutoff scores changes year to year and depends on the questions difficulty level, seat matrix , etc. see at this score you have less chances in old iits, but you have decent chances in iiits, nits and new iits, see you should take nits from top rank because in lower rank nits placement record is not so good, however newer iits has also good placement opportunities.
Sorry to say you that Third year B-tech students don’t eligible For gate. Final year students are eligible to take GATE exam. Forget the pros and cons, people forging fake documents to appear for GATE is an offence. If the organising committee finds out, one could be blacklisted and banned from taking GATE exam in future. It is advisable that third year students should practice previous year papers and take mock tests.
Yes it is enough as you just have to have a certificate of OBC at the time of admission and also at the time of counselling.
I hope this will solve your query.
First of all congratulations for scoring well in GATE.if we take a look on the past year cutoffs there quite good chances of getting a set of your stream in NIT's.
The expected cutoff for this year is around 32-34 which kind of ensures that you may get a seat in NITs.
