TANCA 2020 - Anna University will release the online application form of TANCA 2020 tentatively in the last week of July. TANCA is conducted for admissions to M.Tech programme. TANCA Eligibility Criteria 2020

To get admission through TANCA 2020, candidates will be required to meet certain conditions and requirements specified by the admission authorities. Candidates should always check the eligibility criteria of TANCA 2020 before filling the application form.

Candidates should have obtained a Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% in the qualifying degree examination as per AICTE norms (45% for reserved candidates)


Candidates should have qualified in any one of the following:

  • TANCET 2020

  • GATE 2018/2019/2020 in appropriate field of engineering

  • GATE 2018/2019/2020 in Engineering Science (XE) and Life Science (XL) papers along with TANCET 2020.


GATE 2018/2019/2020 score will be considered only when a candidate has secured marks greater than or equal to the qualifying marks mentioned in the scorecard respectively for the category.



Candidates who will appear for the final semester of the qualifying degree course in April or May 2020, will also be eligible.


Candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu will be given more preference.

There is no age limit for TANCA 2020.

The following category of candidates will not be eligible to apply for TANCA 2020:

  • Candidates who have obtained B.E. / B.Tech degrees through Distance Mode/Week End courses.

  • Candidates with obtained a degree without studying 10th Std, 12th Std. or 3 years diploma and 3/4 years degree programme.

TANCA Application Form 2020

The admission authorities will release the application form of TANCA 2020 tentatively in the last week of July. Interested and eligible candidates should fill and submit the application form before the last date.

Procedure to fill the TANCA 2020 Application Form

  • Registration - Firstly, candidates will have to register for TANCA 2020 by using their valid and functional email and mobile number.

  • Filling the details - After completing the registration process, candidates will have to enter the certain details asked in the application form of TANCA 2020 such as academic, personal, and contact details.

  • Uploading documents - In the next step, candidates will be required to upload the following documents in the format specified by the authorities.

  • Class 12th marksheet or 3 year diploma certificate

  • Qualifying degree certificate

  • Marksheet of all semesters

  • Valid GATE 2018 / 2019 / 2020 scorecard and TANCET 2020 hall ticket for GATE (Engineering Science-XE / Life Science -XL) category.

  • TANCET 2020 hall ticket for TANCET category

  • Permanent community certificate

  • Certificate of disability (if applicable)

  • Nativity Certificate (if applicable)

  • Copy of Identification Certificate obtained from the Head Quarters Tahsildar

  • Experience Certificate (if applicable)

  • Payment of application fee - Candidates will also have to pay the fee of the application form of TANCA 2020. Candidates will be allowed to pay the fee only in an online mode.

TANCA Merit List 2020

The authorities will release the merit list of TANCA 2020 tentatively in the third week of August. A common merit list will be prepared for candidates seeking admission through GATE (Engineering / Technology) and GATE (Engineering Sciences (XE) / Life Sciences (XL) category. A separate merit list will be prepared for candidates seeking admission through TANCET 2020. The merit list will contain the names of all the candidates who will be qualified to participate in the further rounds of admission.

Steps to check TANCA 2020 Merit List

  • Visit the official website of TANCA 2020

  • Click on the “Merit List” link

  • Login by using the user Id and date of birth as per the category - TANCET & GATE

  • Merit list will be displayed on the screen

Note: If two or more candidates will have same marks in TANCET 2020 then a candidate with higher percentage in the qualifying degree exam will be considered.

TANCA Counselling 2020

The authorities will conduct the counselling of TANCA 2020 tentatively in the last week of August. All the candidates whose names will be displayed in the merit list will be eligible to participate in the TANCA 2020 counselling. Counselling will be conducted at Anna University, Chennai and candidates will have to bear the cost of attending counselling.

At the time of counselling, candidates will have to make a payment of Rs. 5300 (Rs. 1,150/- for SC / SCA / ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu) in the form of Demand Draft. The amount will include a non-refundable counselling fee of Rs. 300 (Rs.150/- for SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu). The Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of “The Secretary, TANCA, Anna University” payable at Chennai. After counselling, the authorities will allot seats to the candidates. After seat allotment, candidates will have to reach at the assigned institute on the specified date to confirm the admission.

If a candidate is unable to attend the TANCA 2020 counselling on the specified date and time he/she can

  • Candidates can authorise their parents on behalf of them. Parents will have to submit the authorisation letter given by the candidate for the authorities. Parents should also produce a photo identity of any one, voter ID, driving license, PAN card and passport.

  • Candidate can also attend the counselling of TANCA 2020 on subsequent date and time but seat will not be allotted on the basis of marks. Instead, a candidate will have to opt from the available seats.

Hi there
No you can't get the stipend as all the stipends are cancelled by TANCET from now. So  there will not be any stipend for gate qualified students.

Sonia, TANCET is for Post graduation Courses. TNEA is for B.Tech. Both of them are conducted by Anna University. TNEA is a counselling procedure for admission to approximately more than 200 participating Institutions for their B.Tech courses. Hi aspirant,
Madras Institute of Technology in Chennai is one of the oldest institutes in the country and therefore the eligibility criteria is as follows:
The basic minimum eligibility for UG courses is 10+2 in Science stream with 50% marks in PCM

For PG courses, the basic eligibility criteria is a graduate degree in the relevant discipline, and for research programs, post-graduate degree or diploma in the relevant discipline is required

BE/BTech candidates are selected on the basis of TNEA counselling.

M.Tech candidates are selected on the basis of merit.

Candidates who have appeared for TANCET/GATE can apply for direct admission to PG course.

Application forms are available both online and offline. Other states candidates can apply for BE/B.Tech course online through TNEA website

Candidates are required to attach self-attested copies of relevant documents as stated in the information brochure, along with the application form

The attachments should also contain a copy of receipt of the prescribed registration fees.

All applications should reach the TNEA office on or before the specified last date.

Candidate must have a Tamil Nadu domicile.

Other state candidates can also apply provided they have sought education from class VIII to XII in Tamil Nadu.
