Q: Tell us something about yourself. Where are you from?
Abhishek Singh Kagra: Hi, my name is Abhishek Singh Kagra and I am studying in 3rd year of B.Tech Computer Science. I like bodybuilding and I am a technology buff. I hail from Kurukshetra, Haryana.
Q: Which branch are you studying and in which year you are in?
Abhishek Singh Kagra: I am studying in 3rd year of B.Tech Computer Science
Q: Were there any initial problems and hiccups that you faced during the initial months when everything at the institute was new? How was the support from the college and seniors? How has your journey been so far at the institute?
Abhishek Singh Kagra: No, I did not face any difficulties, but being from a different cultural background, I did observe a few things.People here performed the Nati dance on every occasion, but though I did not know the dance steps, I wanted to blend in, so I started doing slow bhangra on the same beats. It was a big support for me to find that a student from my school was already enrolled here. She helped me a lot to understand the university, culture, festivals, etc. So, I had a good start in university..
Q: What activities are offered in the institute? Are there any clubs etc., for various extracurricular activities? Which ones have you taken up and are a part of?
Abhishek Singh Kagra: There are opportunities galore as the university offers a range of activities where students can make their mark. We have a lot of clubs we can be a part of. There are clubs for dancing, singing, painting, etc. These clubs provide a huge support in activities like flash mob, Moksh, Inter Department competition, etc.
Sadly, I could not participate in any such activities as I have a busy schedule. I live alone in an apartment in Solan and I work out at the gym regularly. I have planned to take part in Moksh in anchoring and body building activities.
Q: Describe a typical day at your institute – what do you do from the time you wake up till you go to sleep?
Abhishek Singh Kagra: I wake up at 5am, get ready, prepare breakfast which is a gym diet. Around 7:30am I get on the bus, where my friends have already kept a seat for me. Around 8:30am I reach the university. On most days I have a class at 8:40am. I attend around 5-6 classes a day. However, I rarely attend lab activities. I love the campus canteen, so I go there around four-five times a day. I usually have lectures till 3:40pm, after which I either hit the vending machine or chill out with friends at Pine Court and sometimes Nescafe. I am home around 4:30pm. I go to the gym by 5:00pm and work out till 8pm. By the time I return it is 8:45pm. I cook and eat my dinner by 10pm. Then I finish my work or just use my phone or laptop. I stick to the same schedule except for weekends.
Q: Tell us about the faculty-student ratio here and about the teacher-student relationship in your understanding.
Abhishek Singh Kagra: My teachers are very cool. In the Engineering Department the faculty ratio is 30 students per teacher. We communicate with them without any hesitation and even play games with them. One evening, a group of eight students played dumb charades with one of the teachers, Gunjan Thakur. We enjoyed it tremendously and had a lot of fun.
Q: What all facilities do you have on the campus? What do you like here the most which you feel is unique and differentiating?
Abhishek Singh Kagra: On the campus, we have faculties of Engineering, Pharma, Basic Sciences, MBA, and Marketing Studies. I like my Engineering faculty the most because they push us to be innovative.
Q: How comfortable are your hostels and how about the cleanliness factor over there?
Abhishek Singh Kagra: I spent two years in the hostel. It is a good place to stay and every day is fun. During festival time we enjoy a lot. However, my reason for leaving was that I had to stick to a specific time schedule there.
Q: What about the medical facilities? Can you avail requisite medical attention if needed in an emergency?
Abhishek Singh Kagra: Once, my roommate in the hostel had severe pain in his stomach around 6 in the morning. Within 15 minutes an ambulance arrived.
Q: How do you balance your studies, projects, exams and other activities?
Abhishek Singh Kagra: Balance is a key point in life. I usually finish my assignments in the university, and I work on projects at night after dinner. I go to the gym every day except for Sunday. I live by maintaining the balance in all activities.
Q: Tell us about the clubs and societies at the campus and how significant are they from your point of view or students’ point of view?
Abhishek Singh Kagra: There are lots of clubs and societies in the university, but it took me a semester to find out about them. So, I think they need to reach out more to students.
Q: Is there any in-house magazine or journal for the latest events or happenings at the institute?
Abhishek Singh Kagra: Yes, I have seen the newspaper.
Q: What are the popular hangouts at the institute? What, according to you, are the most-visited places nearby?

Q: How do you spend your leisure time at the campus?
Abhishek Singh Kagra: I spend my leisure time chilling with friends at Pine court usually with snacks.

Interview with Geetika Khattri (B Tech Biotechnology 1st Year)
Q. Tell us something about yourself. Where are you from?
Geetika Khattri: My name is Geetika Khattri. I am from Nagpur, Maharashtra.
Q. Which branch are you studying and in which year you are in?
Geetika Khattri: I am doing B Tech Biotechnology (SRP) 2nd semester.
Q. Were there any initial problems and hiccups that you faced during the initial months when everything at the institute was new? How was the support from the college and seniors? How has your journey been so far at the institute?
Geetika Khattri: I faced many problems initially but that’s quite normal. I had difficulties regarding friends and adjusting to the new environment. I have never stayed in a hostel before, never been miles away from my family. Even in case of a problem I could not go to them. This would have worsened the situation as they would have worried about me and I didn't want that. Fortunately, these issues did not last long. I got a lot of support from teachers and friends.
Q. What activities are offered in the institute? Are there any clubs etc., for various extracurricular activities? Which ones have you taken up and are a part of?
Geetika Khattri: There are various clubs on the campus for extra-curricular activities such as dance club, music club, etc. I have been a part of the dance club.
Q. Describe a typical day at your institute – what do you do from the time you wake up till you go to sleep?
Geetika Khattri: My day starts at 7 am. Then I freshen up and have breakfast at 8 am. Classes begin at 8:40 am and then we have a break. We also have our GRE classes. After that I head for the library. Sometimes, I stay back and study in the room. Then at 8:40 pm, dinner.
Q. Tell us about the faculty-student ratio here and about the teacher-student relationship in your understanding.
Geetika Khattri: Speaking about the teacher student relationship, it is great. One should respect teachers. They're friendly but it’s all about give and take. If you give respect, you'll get respect in return.
Q. What all facilities do you have on the campus? What do you like here the most which you feel is unique and differentiating?
Geetika Khattri: There are many facilities on the academic front such as the student exchange program, which is really great! At Shoolini, one can experience the best education practices at an affordable price. The campus has cafes and vending machines everywhere for snacks. There is a rooftop garden in the library, where students are immersed in books.
Q. How comfortable are your hostels and how about the cleanliness factor over there?
Geetika Khattri: Hostels here have all the facilities. I have seen many hostels and Shoolini University provides the best among them (the hostels I've seen include many top colleges in Pune, which have ranked A+ grade).
Q. What about the medical facilities? Can you avail requisite medical attention if needed in an emergency?
Geetika Khattri: Medical facilities are appropriate but there is always scope for improvement. Emergency cases are given top preference, which is good.
Q. How do you balance your studies, projects, exams and other activities?
Geetika Khattri: Balancing my studies is sometimes difficult. When I joined in the first semester, I faced a few problems and then there were dance performances. I prefer studying well in class because the brain can retain most of the information when you have listened to it carefully, and then revise within 10 hours. So, I listen attentively in class and then go for practice. On my return, I revise whatever I studied in the morning. This way, I retain everything.
Q. Is there any in-house magazine or journal for the latest events or happenings at the institute?
Geetika Khattri: We have a Shoolini newsletter, which tells us everything about the events and news in the university. Anyone can write and get their articles published.
Q. What are the popular hangouts at the institute? What, according to you, are the most-visited places nearby?
Geetika Khattri: Popular hangouts include many places such as Rock and Roll, Central Mess, Pine and Dine, and Nescafe (forever crowded places XD).
Q. Do you have any Facebook page of your campus where the students express their views, jokes or ideas, or maybe even a blog where they write about their experience of life at campus?
Geetika Khattri: There's a Shoolini University page on Facebook; Twitter, and Linkedin. There is a Youtube channel as well.
Q. What type of companies come for campus recruitment and what percentage of students get placed every year? How is the recruitment process here?
Geetika Khattri: I have heard that there's rarely a chance that students don’t get placed. So, according to that, the percentage is nearly 99%. Don’t know much about the companies, as I am still in the second semester.

Q. What are the popular hangouts at the institute? What, according to you, are the most-visited places nearby?
Tanika Kanwar: Cafes, multiplex, activity centre, temple, and of course tree houses. I think Suryaanshi baker estate, Anand Complex, etc., in Solan.

Interview with Jhanvi (B.Tech Biotechnology 1st Year)
Q. Tell us something about yourself. Where are you from?
Jhanvi: Hi! I am Jhanvi from 'Nawabo ka Shehr', Lucknow.
Q. Which branch are you studying and in which year you are in?
Jhanvi: I am studying B Tech Biotechnology. (Second Semester).
Q. Were there any initial problems and hiccups that you faced during the initial months when everything at the institute was new? How was the support from the college and seniors? How has your journey been so far at the institute?
Jhanvi: When I came here, I found the hilly terrain very interesting, as I have always lived in plains. It has been a great experience and the beginning of a new adventure.
Our seniors are the best! Before joining, I was very apprehensive, as I had heard about many ragging stories. But, strict 'anti-ragging' norms are in place at Shoolini university, making it a safe place to live and pursue studies. Talking about seniors, they are very supportive and always ready to help. The 'Buddy Program' increases the bond between juniors and seniors. It has been a great experience till now. I love the eco-friendly and green campus. It is great to interact with people coming from different cultures and states.
Q. What activities are offered in the institute? Are there any clubs etc., for various extracurricular activities? Which ones have you taken up and are a part of?
Jhanvi: This institution offers various activities and extracurricular functions. There are many clubs to choose from, from fashion photography. I have joined the Literature Club.
Q. Tell us about the faculty-student ratio here and about the teacher-student relationship in your understanding.
Jhanvi: Our faculty has great expertise in their specialised fields. We have mentors to guide us in the right directions. Teachers provide relevant knowledge about every course. Even though we are in a state of lockdown, our teachers help us in every possible way. We have regular interactions, and they are present 24/7 for their students.
Q. How comfortable are your hostels and how about the cleanliness factor over there?
Jhanvi: Hostels are very comfortable, and all facilities are provided there. They are safe and secure. Teachers look after every student. Cleanliness is taken care of.
Shoolini University is filled with many great surprises.
Q. Tell us about the clubs and societies at the campus and how significant are they from your point of view or students’ point of view?
Jhanvi: Many extra-curricular activities are conducted here, like sports, fests, events, etc.
Facilities and infrastructure is very good. The most important feature that my parents too liked very much is that our VC Prof PK Khosla and teachers stay on the campus itself, which makes the place all the more secure.
