Eligibility Criteria of Prime Minister's Research Fellowship (PRMF) 2018
Candidates must have completed or are pursuing the final year of four year undergraduate or five year integrated M.Tech or five year integrated M.Sc. or five year undergraduate-postgraduate dual degree programs in Science and Technology streams from IISc/IITs/NITs/IISERs and centrally funded IIITs.
They must have secured at least CGPA/CPI of 8.0 (in scale of 10.0).
For applicants in five year integrated or dual degree programs if separate CGPAs/CPIs are awarded for UG and PG parts of the program then the CGPA/CPI of UG part (first four year) will be considered.
Candidates must have completed the required academic qualification in the last five years.

A recent passport size photograph in png & jpg format. The photo must not be older than six months
Aadhaar details. Candidates who have no Aadhaar card must apply for one and enter the enrolment number. Applicants belonging to Assam, J&K, and Meghalaya should enter either their passport number, ration card number, bank account number or any other valid government issued identity number.
Abstract of minimum 1000 words in a pdf file. The abstract should be original in applicant’s own words and should have applicant's name on the top. The Project abstract should clearly articulate the area of the study and should evidence interest and insights for the subject chosen. It should formulate a problem for study. It will be used for assessing the applicant's analytical and research skills.
CV as a pdf file. The CV should be limited to two A4 pages and should emphasize only on academic achievements and skills, e.g. ranks, merit certificates, internships, publication, research related software skills.

Academic Details of Qualifying Degree - The qualifying degree (i.e., four year undergraduate or five year integrated M.Tech or five year integrated M.Sc. or five year undergraduate-postgraduate dual degree program in a Science and Technology stream) must be from an IISc/IIT/NIT/IISER or a centrally funded IIIT only.

Broad Discipline and Institute Combination Preference – 24 combinations are allowed. Candidates can opt for one or more discipline as well as one or more institutions.
Fee Payment Details - The fee of Rs 1000 can be paid online through net banking, debit, and credit card etc via SBI Collect. Candidates should click on the given link to pay the application fees. They should select Payment Category as ‘PMRF Application Fee 2018’. It is not necessary to have an SBI account to pay the fees. An online e-receipt will be generated as a pdf file and note the SBIcollect reference number
Save & Submit the application: There are two options of save and submit. Saving the form can be at any stage and allows candidates to edit and fill the form at their leisure. Submitting is the final stage after which candidates cannot edit or fill any details. It is advisable to save, review and then submit the application form. After saving the application for the first time, candidates will receive an email with a system generated password that should be changed using the link provided in the email.

While admission under the PMRF will be made in 18 broad disciplines, they will be monitored by one IIT or IISc for each broad discipline. This includes coordinating the admission process (review applications, shortlist applicants, constitute selection committees and hold final selections). Selection Process of Prime Minister's Research Fellowship (PRMF) 2018
The shortlisting and selection will be done as follows
The team of experts from each nodal institute will assess the applications and prepare a shortlist of applicants for written test and/or interview at the nodal institute.
Shortlisted applicants will be called for a written and/or interview at the nodal institute.
Final selection of shortlisted applicants will be made based on the performance in the interview
It may be noted that a rigorous review of the performance of Prime Minister’s Research Fellowshiphip holders will be done each year and continuation of the next year Fellowshiphip shall be contingent upon successful review of the current one.
Year of study/Research
In addition, a research grant of Rs.2.00 lakh per year will be provided to each of the Fellowship for a period of 5 years to cover any academic contingency expenses and for foreign/national travel expenses
The tenure of Fellowship will be four years for students from integrated courses and five years for B. Tech. students.
Industry participation in the PMRF programme would be explored through CSR funding so as to enable industry to sponsor maximum number of Fellowship.
The National Coordination Committee (NCC) will periodically review and monitor implementation of the scheme. The NCC will in turn report to MHRD about the status of the scheme, fund flow and utilization thereof, as well as policy changes required to make the scheme more effective.

There will be internal reviews twice a year.
There will be a National Convention every year where all PMRFs will showcase their work. This will be an occasion for the Industry to participate in the Convention.
A website set up by the NCC will showcase the areas of work of each PMRF which will list all publications.
